Looks slower than sandblasting, I guess it is more gentle? I always worry about material removal and if it will wreck bearing seats and bore clearances etc. What do you think about that? And of course getting abrasive grit in oil tubes, always a worry.

Yes the process is a bit slower than sandblasting but if the parts are clean and free of paint and grease etc it doesn’t take long at all. It doesn’t damage bearing seats but I certainly wouldn’t concentrate on these surfaces for any period of time. I rinse the parts thoroughly and blow them off with air. There is always a chance of glass hanging in threads and galleries. I always tell customers to give the parts a squirt of air before reassembly when the parts are dry. Any glass residue falls out easily when dry. People keep coming back so I must be getting it right. Thanks for tuning in. Cheers Craig

Someone said the glass bead particles or whatever media get into the pores of the aluminum, on the inside of the cases. Even after careful washing and solvents and air, those particulates will release into the oil at running temperatures. Can destroy an engine. Do you hydro blast both inside and out?

I always give the inside of the cases a quick wash but concentrate on the outside visible surfaces. I use glass bead in the process and have never had any recourse from customers as a result of my work. Usually the someone that said the negative has their bike parked next to one that looks better than theirs and is trying to bring them down 😂. Don’t fall for it 🙂

In addition to beads Which solution to use in the water?

I only use glass beads and water as the majority of my work is non ferrous and doesnt warrant the expense of rust inhibitors.
