Bending and fixing a World War II Willys MB

During Easter Jeep Safari 2023, a group of vintage Jeeps drove through Pritchett Canyon, one of Moab, Utah’s tougher trails. While climbing Chewy Hill, on of the Jeeps banged and scraped the drivers side, bending the door opening quite a bit. This is a video of how the damage was done and how we fixed it.

Nice little vid of "finessing", rather than just beating it back with a hammer. Sometimes just the right combination of pulling and "massaging" with the hammer saves hours of work. I've spent many hours straightening rumply hammered sheet metal on old rigs, that could have been so much less damaged if someone had done it this way.

Interesting video! I had some body work done on my GPW (long since sold) and remember that the guys at that shop were complaining that the sheet metal was too hard and that they were having to heat and hammer too much. Modern cars have much thinner sheet metal.

Jesse, you really shouldn’t be going on trails like that. My recommendation would be to keep your Jeep on the road. Maybe drive it to Dairy Queen once in a while 😂

I have a 14 foot flatbed trailer. A bit much for my Willys, but useful to have for other stuff sometimes.
