I am a student, and my trainer has this unit... very helpful and informative video. Thank you for it. Hehe, wont my instructor be suprised to find out that I already know more about this unit than he does (he's about 65 years old and seems to be afraid of every button except the direct-to button).

I enjoyed the video. I actually have reommended it for a basic primer on the unit for prospective students. I teach instrument flying in an aircraft equipped with this unit and have found it to be very capable. In fact, when it was introduced back around 2000, the only edge it didn't have over the Garmin 400 GPS was the smaller screen. Unfortunately, Bendix-King then left their customers behind without an upgrade pathway and the rest is Garmin history.

Thank you for creating this video it was very informative. What I haven't been able to find is how my old instrument instructor would use the OBS to create a line directly off the destination airport so that you could fly to and visualize the the traffic pattern entry with greater SA.

Great overview of product. Simple and comprehensive. Better job than the manufacturer website.

@1369ghand This Aircraft, N5253B, is rented from Indy AERO at KMQJ. You might try calling them for more information.

Great video (the music is a little loud but thankfully it stops). My plane has a KLN-89B; thinking of upgrading to the KLN-94 and was curious how it looks. This video helps me decide that it might be worth it. Thank you!

@sbestpa You are exactly right, the rest is Garmin history. Thanks for recommending it to your students.

Great tutorial just shows you don't need fancy glass cockpits to navigate a light aircraft.

I would like to see the alternate setting using any airport. Thanks.

The easiest way for the local airport: press NRST then ENT then D then ENT then MNU then OBS(mode), then select the bearing with the HSI or OBS knob on the indicator. A white course line will show up on the map. FYI - If you already have the airport loaded in the GPS, you can skip the first two steps. NOTE: the OBS mode must be turned OFF to enable normal functions. There is an alternate way of setting it up using any airport. Let me know if you need that.
