It takes an octopus with 8 arms and a lot of gray cells between the ears to run the thing a diploma from oxford is an understatement

Fantastic; very informative My late father in laws father had a fleet of these and used them in the construction of the Bank of England vaults. Willment construction.

It occurs to be that this particular steam waggon was built as the first cement mixer lorry in the country. Did your father in laws father have a cement mixer one?
@Dieseljonnyboy5 жыл бұрын
Benedict White yes he did; he was one of the first people to introduce the revolving mixers into the uk from the us; well this is the family story. It was a big company! Involved in some massive civil engineering projects. He died in 1972 aged 90
@BensWorkshop5 жыл бұрын
That is interesting. I wonder if he had Sentinel build him that cement mixer. I'll ask the owner if he knows who first owned it.

I find it interesting how most heavy equipment follows the format of 3 levers to the right of the steering wheel. Forklifts, steam shovels, and this unit. I remember a book called Mike mulligan and his steam shovel that showed how a steam shovel works.

I had a freind of my father's used to drive a steam Wagon I think there great machines to watch. I know that Foden was one the first steam engine. Lorrys and there was some argument about changing to diesel in the early 1900's when Edwin Richard Foden decided it would be cheaper to run a Diesel engine. He left Foden to create ERF his Diesel engine lorrys. Great footage mate really enjoyed it.👍👍

No, the sentinel has driven all the way through London to Birmingham. It doesn't have a problem with long distances though I suspect it is hard work to drive that far. It's top speed is around 28MPH (45KMH) so it does take a while to get there.
