Fixing a tap or faucet that does not flow and changing a washer also removing difficult handle/knob

Fixing a tap, in this case a jamming tap/faucet by changing the insert (from a reviver kit that also contains the knob).
Also shows removing the washer.

Certainly works. I have previously tried all sorts of brutality. Then I got that puller for another job, and hen it came to changing another tap washer I just made the adaptor in the shed. Many thanks for watching!

Absolutely. I have tried all sorts of brutality before I had that puller and made the adaptor. I also have a selection of deep sockets and a breaker bar if the insert refuses to move to. I take no prisoners when it comes to taps!

I had to do a similar job last week Ben, although, fairly typical of the stuff I get, there were a few more obstacles to overcome - the hot tap would barely turn on (usual problem with those taps jamming up), and the hot and cold stop valves for the washing machine wouldn't turn off (yes, an old washing machine with a hot and cold feed). The isolation valve for the hot supply didn't work and just started leaking, as they often do. The gate valve supplying the hot tank was seized solid and the cold water stop cock also wouldn't shut off. It took a bit of TLC to get the gate valve back working, the stop cock just needed the same and then it was plain sailing to replace the other 4 valves.

That is a pain. If your gate valve does not work, you can block the header feed to the hot water tank with a demijon bung. Fits into a 28mm pipe! Many thanks for watching!

Pullers are a good job, have found myself pouring boiling water over taps and try pry them off, works sometimes only

Get a two legged puller like mine, make the adaptor. A bit of scrap 2.5 mm welding rod. Works a treat! Many thanks for watching!
