I had polycystic ovary disease. I went to many doctors and was prescribed so many types of birth control pills, cancer medication, Metformin, and the list goes on. I almost had a hysterectomy because of how heavy the flow was. I had become severely anemic. It was crazy and I felt trapped. I can't remember what KZbin video I was watching, but it was recommended to try iodine for breast tenderness. Some little voice in the back of my head sent me to dig deeper into that comment. I ended up reading the book iodine crisis. It took about seven months and now I'm in my forties and finally having a normal monthly cycle. It's completely crazy and there's a part of me that's very upset at today's medical system. All I needed was iodine!! I am in my mid forties and now can have children but that ship has sailed. As a fellow family physician who also stayed open during the pandemic, I feel the pain and lingering caution that Dr. Brownstien displayed. I watched as many holistic and nutritional healers had their platforms taken down, suffer from ridicule and some seemed to just disappear. Its one reason why I refrained from being on social media discussing the many modalities that we used to help people through the pandemic. It was a very bizarre time in medicine. Currently we are bringing this awareness into the 22 year old practice along with bio-identical hormone replacement at a very high level. Dr. Brownstiens work is very much discussed and greatly appreciated by our colleagues and his books are required reading. I would also like to say that we are all very fortunate to have a healer like Judy Cho who uses her training and wisdom on this platform to help people heal. I appreciate her and will continue to always have an open mind when listening to this great source of information. Thanks 🙏🏽 JC!

I started iodine in mid December after months of feeling as if something was stuck in my throat (sort of like feeling peanut butter stuck). I also suffered constipation, cold feet and hair loss. High blood pressure and more. The iodine completely got rid of that weird lump in the throat feeling, and no more cold feet. However, I did just take a full thyroid panel and everything was normal except the TSH elevated at 7.3. I believe Dr. Brownstein answered my exact question about this. He mentioned being idoine deficient and then taking it that sometimes you will see elevated TSH. I found this fascinating. I am curious to check it again in about 3 months eating clean carnivore and taking my iodine. THANK YOU!

I picked up a old little book titled: Folk Medicine by D.C.Jarvis M.D. written in 1958. More than 3 Million Copies Sold on front cover. For some old time wisdom, it's a gold mine. Chapter 11 The Importance of Iodine is a must read. He talks of using Lugol's Solution. "There is a well known law of halogen displacement. This means that any one of the four can displace the element with the higher weight, but cannot displace an element with a lower atomic weight." Relative Atomic Weight is as follows, Fluorine 19., Chlorine 35.5, Bromine 80, Iodine 127, IE. Fluorine can displace all of the other 3 halides because it is the smallest size. Needless to say Iodine gets displaced by the other 3 halides because it is the biggest in size. Personally i would recommend taking your Iodine first thing upon waking up, probably your most fasted state and having your body with the longest daily window of detoxing the other halides. A recommended method is 12 oz water or more with a tsp of apple cider vinegar, stir in your Lugol's drop amount. I actually think it makes for an enjoyable drink. Another thing i read somewhere is that all wheat flour has bromate in it since about the 80's when they switched out iodine. The only flour that doesn't have it will state that the flour is unbromated on the ingredient list otherwise it is. Another thing, all animal products are low in Fluorine, the most dominate of all halides, i'd say because all animals are trying to detox themselves of it like we are. Plants absorb Fluorine from the soil and water and just continue to accumulate hence plant foods have the highest levels. Fluorine is more toxic then lead but not as toxic as cyanide. Google search. 97% of Europe does not fluoridate there water because Flourine has no biological benefit to do so. Also Chlorine in your water will stop absorbtion of Iodine. Another method of getting your iodine is putting it on your skin, i can't remember how fast it disappears as to how much you would need to reapply. Also iodine can remove skin tags, warts and other skin things.

My first discovery was magnesium and it was one of the greatest discoveries of my life. I started taking a whole food supplement and magnesium coupled with it and it stopped a lot of my health issues. After that it was unrefined salt and that changed a lot of things as I was demanding a tremendous amount from my body in the summertime running my company. Listening to this made me want to cry. I'm heartbroken literally over the fact that we are so in the dark about what true health actually is and we are supposed to be living in the greatest country on the face of the planet. I'm just confused about that. I feel like we've been lied to for so long that we don't even know what truth looks like anymore. The medicinal ingredients indicates that each milliliter contains 50 mg of iodine and 100 mg of potassium iodide. I had been on thyroid medication for about 25 years when I saw your previous segments with Dr. Brownstein and another person about a year ago. I had my doctor do the blood test for iodine, and it was below the lab's normal range. I dropped my medication and ramped up to 50 mg of iodine, then after a month went in for TSH, T3, and T4 tests. Initially my TSH went super high as you described, but the T3 and T4 were in the normal range without medication. After 3 months the TSH came back down and the T3 and T4 stayed normal. I asked my GP why doctors didn't test for iodine or suggest iodine supplementation before putting people on medication. He smiled and said it was a good question. Now I'm down to a 12.5 mg tablet, but think I'll go back to 25 mg based on Dr. Brownstein's advice.

The Goiter belt does not extend into the central US above 100 miles above the coast. I think something introduced into our diet conflicts with Iodine in our bodies. This couldn't have come at a more appropriate time.🌞 I have sadly avoided salt for decades previously. Plus not getting much iodine either when I was plantbased. I have Hashimoto's and then you hear how important iodine is and then you hear how detrimental it is to take iodine...😅 Apparently the thyroid becomes more "visible" for the antibodies when you take iodine so they can more easily destroy it.😨 I heard one thyroid expert say that iodine is very important but to not take it until you have healed the Hashimoto's. But how would you heal that with insufficient amounts of iodine in the first place...😅🤔 I have taken 1 drop a day though for about 6 months just to get some iodine. I heard him say in his interview with Dr Anthony Chaffee that he recommended 25 mg a day. But I haven't figured out how many drops that is bcs that depends on if he means potassium iodine or just the iodine part? On my bottle it says 2 drops: potassium iodine 10 mg, iodine 5 mg. So...25 mg pure iodine or...? Dr Elizabeth Bright recommended 4 drops a day in one interview but 2 drops in the interview with Dr Chaffee. So. Bottom line...I'm confused. I did try to take 4 drops for 2 days and I started to have the hypothyroid "shivers" again. Don't know why an increased dose of iodine would do that...Unless it made my thyroid more visible to the antibodies? Or it might ofc just have been a coincidence ofc....I'm taking 2 drops a day now though but that's supposedly not enough... Let's hope things will get clearer after I've finished watching this!🌞🪷.
@hollybishop4849 ай бұрын
It depends on whether you get the 2% or 5%. Dr Bright says 2 drops of the 5%, but if you have the 2% you need 4 drops. If you decide to do the 25mg and have the 2% then you need 8 drops. I do exactly this. I figure the 25mg is easy to do and cheap to get. Obviously if you have the 5% you only need 4 drops to get 25mg. Hope this helps!

Is the low iodine levels in the soil true of the northern shores of the Great Lakes too, i.e. Canada?
@janine74189 ай бұрын
I take Lugols Iodine...been taking it for years and still had my second thyroid crash. My GP begged me to quite taking the Iodine so I tried quitting it. My energy dropped like crazy. I'm back on the Lugols and switched to compounded levothyroxin to eliminate allergens.. celiac and many other allergies issues. Still not fully well so started the Carnivore diet.
@alia90879 ай бұрын
I have seen where the Lugols is not so good so I have found some tablets that are just seaweed with nothing else and it works well. Unfortunately, you might need to eliminate something else in your diet. Mine was any artificial chemicals even when assured they are the same as the real thing. For someone sensitive they are not, so to ensure I get the correct selinium, vit c etc I have to use natural food source

@@alia9087could you please tell me what the brand name of the seaweed tablets are and where you get them?
@alia90878 ай бұрын
@@aliciastanley5582 they are from a firm called Vit4ever and just named Iodine from organic kelp. Unfortunately, I am in Germany and I know you cannot get them in the UK because I have tried to get them for my niece. I buy mine sometimes from Amazon and sometimes direct. Sorry, I could not help more
@StarGallant-l1i8 ай бұрын
I’m using the life extension brand called sea-iodine 1000 mcg which equals 100mg and so may not be strong enough and it does have silica and stearin acid which might not be good for anyone sensitive but it is organic food sourced from kelp, &bladderwrack extracts,potassium iodide Which may not be the best iodine form either-i bought it on Amazon.
@alia90878 ай бұрын
@@aliciastanley5582 sorry, I did reply but it seems brand names that are healthy are not acceptable. I bought it on that big on line store begining with an A followed by a m. Named ((Vit))((4))((ever)) - minus the parenthesis. Hoping they will confuse the programme. Took a lot of searching

Brought here looking for more information on iodine from DR. Berry's podcast. Interestingly, Dr. Chaffee had Dr. Elizabeth Bright recently too (from the video description: Dr Elizabeth Bright is an Osteopath and Naturopath specializing in improving hormone function naturally through diet.). Fascinating stuff. Thank you.

I used 10 drops of 2% Lugols today for the first time and experienced the most energy and focus in years. I've been supplementing with Selenium for about a week so I'm sure the combo is having an exponential effect.

I have half my thyroid. I started about three or four days ago taking 6 to 8 drops in the morning and again in the afternoon. Started taking selenium. And I am having more energy and feeling better. I’ve been on liothyronine and levothyroxine forever and never felt good. So I hope this works.

I saw something that claimed taking a selenium supplement increases risk of cancer. I eat a couple of brazil nuts daily to add selenium to my diet.

I began taking iodine - 4-6 drops of 5% / 10% Lugol’s and a large breast cyst disappeared. I had this breast cyst for 2-3 years.

Hello from the UK. Interesting interview thank you. I've been using lugals 5% on various locations on my skin over the last couple of weeks and have ordered 12.5mcg ioderol. Though I do have fibrous breast tissue I probably should take more. I also have primary lymphoedema. Does anyone know if there's any data on iodine and lymphoedema?

Just to add to my first posting. My shakes have stopped since taking iodine and 1/2 of my regular dose of thyroid pills. Also my pale green eyes have turned brilliant green again. What's up with that?

I would love for Dr. Brownstein to look at the page of studies Dr. Smith has on iodine. Dr. Smith is vehemently against lugol's solution as being anti-thyroid and he has a page on his website listing many studies that purport to show it causing thyroid problems. I would love to see someone like Dr. B do a rebuttal to that page.
@NutritionwithJudy9 ай бұрын
Dr. Garrett Smith? We have seen enough 24 hour urine tests to show that it's pretty safe. I guess you can always do your own testing. Try iodine and lower doses for awhile, consider the cofactors and then see how you feel. (also do the thyroid labs). Then go without it, and see how you feel, eat the same foods but cut the iodine, and then test your thyroid labs and track your symptoms. Sometimes the key is seeing your symptoms Improve (or not) than just what is shared by experts.
