As I understand Sir, interest on SGB is paid biannually i.e @1.25% after each 6 months. Please clarify whether interest is paid every half year ending March and September end OR after 6 months from the date of issue of that particular Series of SGB?

Thank you for the details. One important point which should be added is that LTCG will be taxed at 20% with an indexation benefit if SGB is redeemed between 5 to 8 years.

No. There is no capital gain tax applicable on redemption after 5 years or on maturity.

If you sell within 3 years from the date of purchase then as per slab rates applicable to you but if you sell after holding it for 3 years then 20% with the benefits of indexation.

No need to ensure.. your demat be it with cdsl or nsdl will have a nominee listed.. as soon as the bond start to appear in your dp you don’t need to do anything else.. you will stand in place of original buyers…
