Van Der Hagen blades are trash! Never use them! But the Van Der Hagen shave butter is awesome on beard and mustache!! Love it! Never tried it on my head though.

Bought it and did shave my head with it, no cuts or bumps... I returned it after it seemed like it took to many passes to clean up the hair with the grain. I do not shave against the grain or it is hell to pay. I found the Rockwell 6C set at 3 to be best with a Feather blade and some Proraso Green keeps the bumps away. Like you mentioned a while ago Nate about Vicks the Proraso preshave also can be used after the shave with a good moisturizer, I put Nivea over the top and it works nice. Cheers💈

I love the butter, loved the razor for the first 3 months. I moved to a 3 piece razor from Parker's. My main complaint was the butterflies stopped closing evenly, and the blade wasn't even. It is a great intro razor for safety razors.

The van der Hagen razor is actually a rebranded Chinese razor you can buy for much cheaper. It's called Weishi. There's also mingshi. If you're going to buy a de from vanderhagen, you might as well save some money.

I think the Van Der Hagen Cooling Shave Gel is the best product to use from Van Der Hagen as far as shaving. I'm not a big fan of the Shave butter or the actual razor for that matter however, the blades themselves are pretty good quality. I can probably get at least 3 good uses out of them.

I used that razor for years but then I decided to let my hair grow back and just fade it for a couple of years but I recently decided to go back to shaving my head and just ordered the Leaf Razor and some Astra blades.

Another good review.....I do not own the razor but i have used the shave butter several times and you have to mix it with alot of butter and that of water in your hands or its going to do just like during your shave absorbs just like lotion lol.... Sometimes i mix it with Bump-stoppers shaving cream or a gel, and then it works flawless lol

I like the Van der Hagen shaver. It is my first safety razor and I like it a lot. And I also use Personna double edge stainless steel comfort coated blades with Noxzema skin cream.

I just got this because it was cheap n I am fairly new to the bald lifestyle and this razor cut me the hell up maybe it was the crappy shave butter and razors that came with it .. I also feel like it didn’t have enough weight to it .. what safety razor would you recommend that’ll give me a nice clean shave but at the same time not cut me up either

I found this video because I was looking for opinions on the shave butter. I tried it once and liked it, but that was using the razor and blades I've preferred for years. Also, I think for it to work you have to put much more on, a generous layer. But as you said, I think Van Der Hagen is for the economically minded. I am curious about other shave butters and gels that might be of better quality.

I use this safety razor for neck and cheek edge ups but I use feather blades instead and I love it. VH shave butter is trash but I would reccomend the dollar shave clubs dr.carver shave butter goes on like clear gel.

I've used the shave butter before... You have to overlook the "instructions", it takes more than that quarter size to get a lather.
