Its been so great to follow you on this trip. What I take to me from it? 1. The food. I need to simplify me food. 2. Recovery. I love the concept of sleeping after a run 😴😁 3. Runners have positive group dynamics in general.

Good series. Main takeaway is liking how they haven't made this an overpriced 5 star luxury experience. Simple accommodation, food, resources, no frills. Yes, it costs a bit to go, but I think pretty good value for the experience of a lifetime (and I say that as a total cheapskate myself!)

Hi Ben- great series of videos. Definitely tempting me to ask the wife if I can spend 2 weeks in Kenya! If you like progressive runs you should try out some pyramid sessions or even double pyramids. You basically build up to peak pace and then ease off but the effort/HR stays high as you fatigue. Good marathon training

Hey Ben thank you for making all these videos I’ve absolutely loved watching them all. It’s fascinating to see how the elite Kenyans train! Just a quick question if you don’t mind, do they tend to eat or drink anything first thing before heading out for their run?

You never had papaya ?? 😱 Next time you go there, I recommend you make a simple fruit salad with equal parts papaya and mango (with maybe a dash of lemon juice to further counterbalance the papaya's high pH). It's gonna be an unforgettable snack, I promise. I love having those fruits after my 15km steady runs 😋

Book well worth reading about Kenyan running success; "Train Hard, Win Easy" by Toby Tanser. First came out in the mid 1990s but an updated edition available. Details of training programmes of top Kenyans, medal winners and record holders. Major ingredient is REST. Top Kenyans train 2-3 times a day but between the sessions they do - nothing! Also not afraid to take one day a week completely off running (Tanser makes the point that many runners are Christians and attend church on Sunday). Also at the end of the track season (or after a big marathon) they are happy to take a few weeks complete break. Over a year they may run fewer miles than a lot of European and American runners but a bigger percentage of that running is fast and hard because of the intensity that the group training generates.
