Every year the O line picks are relegated to the late rounds and none of those guys are any good as starters. Cody Ford will not be mistaken for an All Pro. We wasted a pick on Burton and we wasted a pick on Erick All (he might be good but he was still recovering from an ACL and then injured again this year and Burton is/will be an utter BUST). Bengals have done ok with high first round picks (Burrow, Chase and hopefully Mims duh) but after that Zac Taylor must consulting a ouija board for the picks. You can fire whoever you want but it won’t fix ANYTHING when you’ve got an owner too poor to cut the big boy checks. Letting key defensive players go before paying Burrow or Chase is inexcusable for a contending team. Offering Chase a deal with payments deferred until 2026 was an absolute joke! Hendrickson wanted a new deal and Brown was too cheap. Then he goes out and leads the NFL in sacks! Chase wanted his deal and Brown was too cheap again. Then he goes out and wins the triple crown! Could’ve gotten a 1st plus for Higgins in last year’s draft but thought you knew better. Probably could’ve replaced him with BTJ! This team is absolutely crumbling and it’s a shame Joe Burrow will waste his career with such a low class, second rate organization

Forbes has reported that Mike Brown is worth 999.9 million dollars and the team is now in the middle of the pack regarding revenues. My thought is we should all be so poor as Mike Brown. It's also been reported by Wincincinnati that in Joe's contract there is a clause that allows Joe to renegotiate his contract to the tune of 19 million to retain quality players. They have also reported that presently the Bengals can access approximately 100 million dollars in revenues. Additionally, you can't forget the "New NFL Rule" this year that allows the Bengals organization to sell up to 10% of their organization to access money. So I ask: Is Mike Brown really so poor that he should sell the team or is he just so cheap? At any rate, Mike's real achilles heel is guaranteed money which he sees as a danger to the legacy he wants to pass to the Brown Family Trust. Arguably, I really don't see that Mike is too poor to write the needed player checks.

@no2_j8 сағат бұрын
You may be the only person who thinks that Tobin has that small of a role or ranks that low in their corporate structure. Go read the Bengals Wire article posted this morning on USA Today. It refers to Tobin as the GM is an “open secret.” And it implies Trey Brown is essentially the assistant GM, reporting directly under Duke. Corporate titles and ranks of course differ from company to company. But a “senior executive” of a department almost certainly reports to a director or VP of said department. I do not know what PBJ or Troy’s roles specifically entail, and I’m sure that Duke does report to them. But Duke has long been considered one of the primary decision makers when it comes to player acquisition. That’s his role. He’s the *director* of that department. That doesn’t necessarily mean he has all the power, and if Katie and family don’t agree to the terms of a negotiation, then yeah, they get the final say. But I believe he’s largely leading the conversations.

I think you mean "scheme" not alignment. Alignment is having the players - coaches - organization all on the same page with the same vision which forms habits of your operation -- Culture. Scheme is part of how you use your players in different positions, sets, pressures, coverages etc. For Anarumo he needs to have a Philosophy for his Defense that coordinates with Zac's ideas for Defense. If Zac is smart, he knows that Lou knows more about Defense and he defers to Lou. Not all HCs do this (Tomlin for example), but I think Zac does. After the overall Defensive Philosophy cames the Defensive vision for 2024 then the Gameplans, Schemes, and on gameday PlayCalls and Adjustments James, you are great at what you do, so I just wanted to make this point. Fans/Media need to keep some of this straight. Why guys succeed and why they don't and what it all means. Good point by you that this doesn't necessarily mean Annarumo sucks. But it's not just this yr as you guys pointed out. The Defense has struggled a lot for 2 yrs at least. Guys got old, banged up - and the talent coming in (especially the DBs) didn't cut it. Surprising, given the type of talent brought in. Lou is definitely a strong scheme guy - a somehwat conservative background, but he likes to mix it up. I'm thinking this is so much about the Talent - the young and the old. I always thought he was good with the players as a coach - but just bad choices as they dealt with attrition.

The front office was unable to successfully negotiate with two key defensive players: Jesse Bates and DJ Reader. Apparently the owner, Mike Brown, and Katie, his daughter, who manages the front office, both have a problem with guaranteed money. Disgraceful how management handled Jesse Bates. Jesse originally asked leadetship for 14 million on his second year contract and guaranteed money, and there was the rub for Mike Brown, a player requesting guaranteed money. Consequently, Jesse was handed a pile of negative PR, slapped with the franchise ticket and at the end of that season walked calmly out the door with a 30 million dollar contract, mostly in guaranteed money. When this young, veteran player left the team he took his extroadinary talent and leadership skills with him. Jesse ran the backfield and coordinated his efforts with DJ Reader. DJ walked out the door because the Lord provided a pathway to the Lions and DJ wasn't about to take the front office's contract bull-crap. DJ, in turn, ran the Bengals' defensive line and was the Bengals recognized run stopper. Replacing these two accomplished players and locker room leaders were draftees who couldn't possibly fill the void or free agents who came in on the cheap. It is sobbering how management also caused all the drama this season surrounded the Tee Higgins botched contract deal, and unbelievably, the front office's breached promise to get Ja'Marr Chase's contract wrapped up this past training camp. Again the rub appears to be GUARANTEED MONEY! The Brown Family Trust is the real threat to a Bengals' Superbowl win, because they'd rather settle for mediocrity in exchange for "no guaranteed money" in outstanding players contracts. What other Owner in the NFL handles negotiations is such an amateurish manner? Who?😮
@PowerSpreadXO10 сағат бұрын
@ wow. My expertise is schemes, not front office negotiations. So I know that Anarumo knows his stuff. And wasn’t suddenly a bad DC. I knew during the Super Bowl run he was also overrated. The Chiefs had a huge letdown after the huge Bills win. It wasn’t the 3-8 Defense everyone made a big deal about. Mahomes wasn’t fooled as much as he just sucked that game. (Yeah I said it. Sorry to offend your GOD). So basically, Anarumo was never great but he’s not bad either. I did notice age, injs and free agency. That seemed to be the bigger culprit. So yeah - what you say makes a lot of sense to me. And people have complained about the Browns forever. On the other hand. What these players make is disgusting. But supply demand. The fans demand it.

The players backing Frank is very respectful, but meaningless. We can all see how bad he was

Can anyone tell me a Time where they won a game because Zach won them the game late??? On the playoff runs? This Season??? Just curious... Why is anyone letting Zach make decisions on or off the field???? development... Defense is about Communication, Studs and Leadership... Letting the Leader, Stud and Biggest Communicator on the team in Bates and replacing him with rookies and Guys that just are not leaders, is a really fair ask... Its really hard to replace key players on defense that are your leaders and the heart and soul of the team... The offense was able to develop some players because the core of Burrow, Chase and Higgins has always been in tact. Imagine if they let Chase and Higgins walk this year and expected Burrow to go out there and put up numbers with OBJ and a Rookie Second round pick... Do you honestly believe Taylor can do better??? Even so Bates from a communication standpoint was more like losing Burrow... You cannot replace leaders... Lou did more with less... Got them to the SB... Made him do more with less and less, just to scape goat him in the end is so unfair. Taylor has never shown any ability to win a game with the most talented side of the ball. It needs to be the Kicker or the defense that closes games out and they instead let the defense suffer. Give up 30 to the Pit??? The defense was responsible for 10 points off of TOS by the offense??? and Defense scored a TD too. 3 TOs is why they lost to the steelers. Against the steelers the second time Did the Offense win that game??? Did Taylor close out that game??? NO... It was Lou always bailing Taylor Out. This season the Offense never bailed out the team with the best unit and yet the defense won them game when the offense struggled. 3 TO game for burrow and they win... Why... Offense scored 14 points against browns and 17 against Giants and win... Hmmm. That's weird... Offense with all the horses cannot win a game with ball in had in a close high scoring game.

Have any of you guys watched Bates play this year 😂😂 I don’t see what you guys are talking about 🤦🏻🤦🏻🤦🏻 he not worth the money they are paying him 😂😂

He will be getting another All Pro. The falcons defense besides him is trash as hell. 1 man can’t be your whole defense, you should know this watching Trey all year.

they shoul go after the front office as well. they give uo good players and then sign lesser players for less money and then just blame the coaches when they have less talent.

Blaming Lou is bullshit. They let his best players walk and have drafted nothing but busts lately
@stevechitwood21715 сағат бұрын
They should have fired taylor....the guys on defense are the same as the ones let go to free agency....the defensive line is good...free agency hits the Bengals hard becauase mike Brown didn't want to give those player a raise,one that they deserved instead those free agents are stars on their new teams! They wanted to stay here we had the nucleus to beat the chiefs......not anymore good bye playoffs ....joe should go where they want to win ..but pay their players and keep the good ones and protect their quarterbacks

Within the next two seasons the Bengals will have the Chiefs playoff lives in their hands. History always brings things around full circle. Let’s be real they Bengals got hosed in a lot of games. #karma #who dey

something had to be done. scary though. there will be more dcs worse than lou hired than better than lou across the league. cincy has to get it right. same goes for all 4 coaches let go. easy to take a step back instead of forward here.

Well luckily for us we can't get much worse than being the worst defense in the sport 😂
@brokenarrowoutdoors2467Күн бұрын
Don’t sign Tee. Use that money to sign two really good guards. If burrow has more time in the pocket he can make any WR look good. Also get top tier edge rusher opposite Trey and that will make back end look a lot better. That’s where I’d start then draft one guard and edge rusher, CB and safety
@micahhittinger608311 сағат бұрын
That’s the best advice I’ve heard! It’s exactly how I feel. Tee is awesome but we don’t have to have him. Protecting Joe is way more important. I also feel Joe can make most any NFL caliber receiver look good if he has the time to throw it. More pressure on defense will definitely make the cornerbacks and safeties look better. It’s not all on them. If the opposing QB has too much time to throw the ball, most receivers will get open.

@ I really like Tee I think he’s a great receiver and person. But there are to many holes to fill.

If Myles Murphy is “talented,” if Dax Hill is “talented” then where is that talent? These are career backup players. Where you are drafted doesn’t mean anything
@LockedOnBengalsКүн бұрын
Wrong lol. “Where is the talent?” Ask any player that’s gone up against them or any of their teammates 😂😂😂
@DottyMancini6 сағат бұрын
@ what Competitive team would start Myles Murphy? Or Dax Hill? Joseph Ossai? They will spend their NFL days as substitutes. The best players on the Bengals defense-excepting Trey, obviously-are 3rd day picks, and probably wouldn’t start on average defenses

Need to fire the pocket book. It has not done its job since it took over.

Gimme Coach Marvin Lewis as DC! The main reason is that he can talk with the FO/Mike Brown and get what he needs for the Defense.
@BengalsFan2363Күн бұрын
Who is a better DC Lou or Marvin? They gave Lou his choice of the draft it was allllllll Lou. So thats been done and you see how that turned out for the Def.

The problem with this team starts with Marvin Dot 2 (zac taylor) He's not a head coach. He's a wanabe offensive coordinator
