At some point it has to be a pattern. Burrow was coming off injury/surgery in both 2022 and 2023, and they had tough opponents those years, but 1-11 is not a coincidence. Playing starters more in preseason is what many people focus on. I'm not sure that's the cause. But something needs to change.

I mean, Lou was the DC during that entire time so he’s technically 1-11 as well lol. But I agree, this falls more on the HC, especially when in a lot of those games it’s been the offense that’s particularly out of rhythm, sloppy, mediocre or all three.

That's not quite what I was saying. I'm suggesting that next year, an improved defense will likely be enough in the games after week 1, given how amazing Joe is. I made no claims about the previous years, nor where the blame should be apportioned. Just that next year, even if Joe finishes with 38 TDs and 12 picks and, say 3,800 yards, but with a top 15 defense, they are more likely to go 8-4 than they are to go 4-8. I do blame Lou for clinging to his difficult defense when at least half the problem.is his guys don't tackle well and didn't improve much in 17 weeks, but that's not relevant to what I was saying before.

The reason the Bengals are cold as ice the first two or three weeks of the season, is because they don't play their starters during the preseason. It doesn't matter if it's the offense, or the defense, you got to get these guys warmed up and ready to play on week 1. You keep treating them like fine china during the preseason, they're going to break like fine china when it's time to play for the money. I understand why they don't, but it's a double-edged sword, and it can cut both ways.

This team needs intensity more than anything. Zac is relatively passive and so was Lou (and Marion Hobbs). That type of energy trickles down to the players and causes these lackluster, underwhelming starts to the season. Weeks 1-4 are not about preparation as much as they are enforcing your will upon your opponent. The Bengals always start slow because they’re not prepared for that early season intensity. Week 1, every team is hopeful, healthy (usually), and hungry. The Bengals are usually healthy but never look hungry until December

In the 7 Playoff Games the Defense and Kicker had to close every game for them when the Offense had Most of the talent... 0 points on last 5 possessions of a SB... Now the Kicker and Defense is struggling and it is clear now more than ever the Offense cannot Close when the ball is in their hands!!! Why does Taylor get all the Talent when it takes him 3 possessions in OT to get and go for a TD to win the game... So many 1 score games where they could have won the game with the offense... When any group struggles the rest of the team steps up. This year when the team gave up 30 or more they lost all 6 of the games... Zach running it 3 times to kick a 53 yard Fg in OT... Settling and missing fgs in tie games. When the lights and Offense has to do a little more to walk away with a win they choke!!!! There were 4 games when the offense did not score more than 20 points... You would think the team would be out of all those games and instead they won 3 out of the 4 games, why because the defense closed those games out... The loss was week 1 when Taylor's side had the ball in his hand down 6 and came up short! Can you give me one time this year where the Offense Won the game for the Bengal's late??? Where def, or STs was struggling but they put it on them to win it??? 0!!! From SB going 0 for last 5 possessions or going back to back with 0 points in Arrowhead to lose.. The star studded Offense needs so many possessions to break through when the game is on the line. In 7 of those playoff games everyone pretends Taylor and Burrow scored 35+ a game and they won it all with shootouts!!! Well the Offense never scored 28 points in all 7 games. Taylor this year has shown week in and week out he cannot close... Great Defenses are more than just Scheme. You need Studs, Leadership and Communication. The all time great defenses had multiple leaders and talent and they let Bates walk out the door... Now they cant play aggressive as the back end is not sound. The 5 game winning streak was possible because of the defense and special teams. Muffed Punt was lucky but saved the game... Forced 6 TOs when the Taylor led offense had 3 TOs... Held Browns to 6 points.... Had to get 2 Critical Stops in OT because Zach does not seem to understand a TD win in OT automatically!!! Against Steelers to close out the season, the Offense could have put game away with a TD at any point, or at the end they could have put the game away with a few first downs, instead the Defense had to close!!! Taylor's inability to close is why he will never win... Now the Cap will be dedicated to his side of the ball and so he will still need to figure out how to close out games and in 5 years he still does not understand how to close!!!!

Zach Taylor has out coached Andy Reid at least 3 times. He has out coached Mike Tomlin and John Harbaugh too. Best Harbaugh and the Ravens in the playoffs in 2022. The game where Sam Hubbard had a scoop and score. Yes retaining Zach Taylor was the right thing. However if we don’t make the playoffs and /or Super Bowl next year k would consider moving on. If we don’t make the playoffs at least next year then I would let Taylor go. I have a feeling we are going to be near unstoppable Next season and we will win the Super Bowl. The fact of the matter is Taylor is an offensive minded head coach and we had the number 5 offense in football this year. The 5th ranked offense and the 28th ranked defense. Moving on from Lou and Frank Pollock and Marion Hobby were all good ideas. I don’t want to hear this bullshit about all of our good players on defense left in free agency. Bates is the best at his position and should have been retained. So should Reader but they weren’t so their job is to coach the guys they have and there is nothing wrong with the talent on this team. Next year they need to put CTB at nickel CB. He woukd be mush better there. But there is nothing wrong with the numbers CTB put up this year. He was 3rd in the league in pass break ups. He had 3 interceptions. And one of the craziest interceptions anyone has ever seen. Dax Hill and DJ Turner should be your starting outside CBs with CTB at nickel. Jordan Battle needs to be the starting SS and for Free safety I would first try Tycen Anderson but if not him then Dajhan Anthony. We don’t need some high priced free agent safety. We just need good coaches. Tycen Anderson is on of the best athletes in the NFL. Dude is 6’2’’ 210 and runs 4.36. He is the size of a small Linebacker but can run faster than most WR’s can. That’s what you need at Cree safety. Someone who can run. Bates could run but he want as fast as Anderson. Dajhan Anthony and Bates are the same speed. I would keep the RB Kendall Milton on the team and use him as a short yardage back and/or fullback bevaue he is big. 6’1’’ 230. We were still near the bottom of the league in short yardage situations. I think we were actually 31st in that catagory. It was bad. We need a big RB or Fullback who can get us 2 yards on 3rd or 4th down. Someone with some size and strength. Milton is that guy. He can run for his size too. They need to pay Chase. They should have payed him last offseason. Now they will pay a lot more for him. Management looks like a bunch of fools. They need to pay Tee as well. I used to be for letting Tee walk. Not anymore. He missed 5 games and almost had 1000 yards and had a career best 10 tds. People get hurt. With 2 top level WR’s the chances are that one of them is always going to be available. Which has been the case. There hasn’t been a game where both Chase or Higgins didn’t play. And when they are both on the field we can’t be stopped. Chase Brown is bad ass but he needs some help. They should draft another RB this year and roll with him Brown and Milton. Maybe bring Chris Evans or Traveon Williams back. I’d like to see Chris Evans back. That kid has skills that weren’t utilized to their potential. If Chris Evans leaves the team guess where he is going to play next? The Chargers. I guarantee you Chris Evans will either be a Bengal or a Charger next year. He played for Harbaugh at Michigan. Harbaugh knows what kind of athlete he is. And the offensive line. Pollack should have been fired last year I thought. Pollock wasn’t fired exactly his contract expired and was not extended. Volson has to go. He needs to be a backup guard next year. What I would do is move Ted Karras over to LG and start Matt Lee at center. Matt Lee could have been a day 1 starter. I don’t give a dam that he was a 7th round pick. Bengals has a 5th round grade on him. Mims was ok this year too. For his lack of experience I thought he played pretty dam good. Valuable experience was learned this year. Jaxson Kirkland will be back this year too. He can play either tackle spot or guard. At a high level. Kirkland is good and I was flabbergasted that he wasn’t drafted. Dude was a 3x 1st team All PAC-12 with 1 at left tackle, 1 at left guard, and 1 at Right tackle. My backups next year would be Volson, Kirkland, Trey Hill, and I would draft another offensive lineman too. I think coaching is the problem with our offensive line. We have good players. Orlando Brown was a 4x Pro Bowl player. He was playing like an All Pro this year before he got hurt. I think Mims will have Pro Bowls and All Pros in his future too. Cappa is an average guard. He can get the job done but he is slow. I would draft another guard too compete with him. Kirkland would be my swing tackle and he can play guard if neccesary. Volson would be my backup guard and Hill backup center who can play guard too. I would draft maybe a college guard or someone who has played guard and tackle in college. I wouldn’t draft a guy who only played left tackle or right tackle for 3 or 4 years and expect him to come in and play guard. Like Jackson Carmen and Hakeem Adeniji. Carman only played left tackle for 3 years. Adeniji only played left tackle for 4 straight years in college. The dude literally never took a snap at any position accept left tackle. He gets to the NFL and they have him playing guard in the fucking playoffs and Super Bowl. Adeniji is a tackle not a guard.

We lost 5 games by bungalitis. 2ravens..chiefs..first steelers...chargers. But to be brutally honest we won 3 in spite of our bungalitis. Dallas we had a punt blocked..denver we boinked a fg..pitt one more yard and boswell beats us at gun. Thats main focus of 2025 is to get control of games so it doesn't come down to that. The chicken and egg question is whether thats coaching or personnel ?

So fire Zac, sign Tee, sign Chase. What happens to the offense? Sure you have Burrow and the weapon's but it will be a completely different scheme that usually takes other teams about 2 years to integrate a complete offensive scheme. So now you paid all this money for potentially 2 years of the most talented offense not reaching their ceiling. Plus Joe doesn't want Zac gone, so you now also have to deal with a disgruntled Burrow. All this because you believe he shouldn't have gone for it on 4th down. Nah all the right people got fired who deserved to be fired.

@@chasecampbell6496 the 2023 Chargers were 5-12 and now 11-6 and in the playoffs with Harbaugh. A competent head coach would have the Bengals competing for a Super Bowl and not watching the playoffs on TV for the 2nd year in a row, in my opinion.

Don’t forget Tee got hurt FRIDAY before the season started.. that’s why we started slow this year. The Bengals get off to slow starts every year and have no shot at #1 seeds. That’s on the head coach, not a coordinator. The head coach is responsible for the whole team, hence the word “head” in head coach.

Zac Taylor needs to go. He's way too slow to react to changes. Too long to notice that Money Mac wasn't. Playing too deep on late game pass defense. He made that mistake but got away with it too often. It worked when he had defensive backs that got turnovers and stops. He gets greedy in the red zone and runs the ball for no gain, trying to score and burn the clock. He doesn't have the run game for that. Not to mention clock management and taking the ball out of Joes hands when that's all he has.
