@@howardwillow I had a heavy half 75 Chevy Cheyenne that truck spent time on 1 tire a few times and sitting straight up on its rear bumper staring at blue sky until it landed on its wheels I literally tried to kill that thing a few times. The only thing that put it in the shop where the full throttle forward to reverse rabbit ears my little brother did with it a few times. We had to put a new transmission in it at about 165,000 miles. And I sold it to a napa shop that put a couple hundred thousand more miles on it as a parts runner.

As a TRD Pro owner I love when the Raptor guy says to “buy a Ford it’s dependable.” I get it the TRD Pro has fewer cameras no carbon fiber, lockers and shocks are not as good, much less technology so I am aware of its shortcomings as an off-road king (although it did win the stock division of the Baja a few years back), but what the hell good is all of that stuff if you are left on the side of the road or in this case the middle of a dirt road? Ben I know how much it must bother you to have your brand new $90,000 truck fail on its first adventure, but this is why we watch channels like yours. Gotta love when one bad experience on a literally brand new lineup of truck makes certain Ford fanboys say "wow look how bad Ram is. Ford is the goat hurdur". I would say it's probably safe to assume this was merely a lemon (unfortunate for him by all means) and not an overall TRX problem. I myself have no preference and like both Ford and Ram (Ram a little more obviously). Raptors are the OG but have become so saturated you cant drive down the road without seeing Starbucks pretty boy driving one. TRX is the next gen 702HP because fuck you that's why challenger just like when Ram overhauled the entire Ram lineup and blew everyone away. Their downfall is obviously I don't have a 3rd kidney to sell to obtain one of these.

If he had broken a ty rod or busted an axle it would be understandable. However when you blow a engine or transmission from a little redlining that s a major problem! We redline the raptor all the time! Hell ask Ben, he drove the raptor off road the same way he drove the trx! People who like performance are going to redline their vehicles sometimes especially hi performance vehicles. Most of your high performance vehicles are prepared for a little redlining , where your average everyday vehicle is not! This means the transmission is barely able to handle the power from the engine, unlike the raptor which has the best power train in the business. So considering all the drawings and all the talk from ram fanboys I think the criticism is well deserved. JUST POP THE HOOD! 😂

Raptors can handle that manual shifting all day every day for years and twice on Sunday. For every one million Raptors sold, only one breaks down. Go check used Raptors on autotrader. Some have over 400k miles on them and still rip.

I was watching the video and then I realized he was mashing the paddle shifters every 3 seconds even though he was already at 6000 RPM. With a truck that heavy it’s no wonder why the trans blew. That truck must be engine braking (for lack of better words) a shit ton every single shift and that trans is the thing that has to put up with the force.

No, that's not how it works. It's meant to be manually shifted. Otherwise it wouldn't have shift paddles, a mode in the transmission settings for it, and a rev limiter. That's what it's there for. That's like saying that it's the person's fault who turned the headlights on when the bulb goes out.

@@jrm88382 no. The truck is designed to be safe at the redline. That's why there's a rev limiter. Blowing a transmission line has nothing to do with revving your engine. The line or fitting failed. Nothing more than that. Maybe he's a bad driver, I don't know, but doing what he didn't doesn't cause that to happen. It was a bad part or he hit it on something.

It doesn’t have lockers or crawl control but the tundra trd pro is definitly more of a high speed off roader compared to the tacoma and 4runner. Not as fast as the trx or raptor but you really don’t need 700 hp to have fun high speed off roading

People (who don't own Raptors) hate on the ecoboost but lighter weight and more than enough power for the dirt really is a good combo vs a more front heavy and hard to throw around truck.

Guys...all you need to do is google this and you will find transmission issues from all different websites different models and years and yes 8 speed transmissions are also having problems...just visit ramforum and you will see. My boss drove a ram 3500 and only towed a 5th wheel toy hauler during the summer months and hes had to repair his tranny twice in 2 years. Also our flatbed at work is a ram and it also had tranny issues...well at least it was the reason why it was at the shop most of the time. All manufacturers have issues, Toyota has rust problems, RAM has tranny issues, Ford has a problem with everything, the point is we cannot be biased with all these problems otherwise how will Ram ever take these matters seriously?

Go look at keep it dirty off roads new video on why the ram skid plate causes more damage than good. Secondly his battery fell out of the holder and the engine was clapped up. Glad they are fixing it with care, mine had a fuse box wire issue that made the car loose power steering while I was at highway, car was also brand new. They did not bother to send a tech out to check on it 😑 Dealer fixed the issue tho 😊
