I purchased my 2014 Citadel in October 2013. 5.7 Hemi. Just ready to click 80,000 miles. I've had four issues. First, the brakes needed work at 20,000 miles. In over 50 years of driving, I have never had brakes go so quickly. In retrospect, I am almost certain that was the result of excessive braking by the adaptive cruse control. Since then, I have changed the way I use ACC...basically, in very heavy traffic I turn it off. I'm on 60,000 miles since the last brake job so that seems to have done it. Second, water pump leak. Fixed under warranty at about 50,000 miles. Third, the paint on the front edge of the aluminum hood seems to really suffer from road damage. Fixed under warranty once (new hood) as defective paint. But still, problem persisted. I put a Weather Tech shield on the front of the hood and problem solved. Left head lamp went out. I replaced it myself for $70 or $80 as I recall (pain in the ass). That's it. Car has been perfect otherwise and I still am very, very happy with it.

Thanks for the info. I’m looking into a used R/T after many years with my 2011 Crown Vic police interceptor it just isn’t the best for the WI winter, unless I’m playing around lol. From your comment my only question is how accessible is the water pump? Could it of been something you could of fixed your self or is it in a awkward area? I just prefer to do my own maintenance unless the problem is very bad I’ll then tak it to a dealership. The water pump is the main reason I turned away from the Explorer and Taurus.

@@tylerallen497 I just looked at my car and would say that it would be doable for you to change it yourself. It is located on the top front of the engine block under an air distribution box which would have to be removed in order for you to get at the pump. It wouldn’t be the easiest thing to do, but better than most modern engines I’ve seen. Nothing beats the old cars like my 64 Chevy I had in 1971. I could almost climb into the engine compartment to get at whatever I wanted. 😆
@tylerallen4973 жыл бұрын
@@TheAirplaneDriverAlright sounds good, thanks for the reply. It doesn’t like the hardest thing, but not as easy as my Crown Vic lol. But when at car shows my dad always mentions how how wide open under the hood would be on his 85 Caprice and how easy it would be to get access to parts and how you could see straight to the ground, he also would mention how you could pretty much step inside the engine compartment also lol

I have a 2012 durango. 144000 miles no problems. I did have an oil leak from the oil pan change that and it fix it.I did all the recalls. but never left me stranded. Maybe I m lucky. Change the battery after 7 years of use

2013 v6 dodge Durango SXT 146,000 miles. Has been lasting me years. Survived a car crash. Has gone off road and handled itself like the beast it is. Handles itself in the snow well because it’s all wheel drive, unless you turn off traction control then boom you’re doing donuts in a parking lot. It once had its engine light turn on, I went to sleep woke up the next day and it was gone. I used to say that when my Durango died on my I’d get a new Durango, now I don’t know if it will die on me, heck it might outlive me. It has seven seats, I’m always the driver when my friends go out, and guess what, I love it because it means I get to drive my Durango. It has amazing trunk space. I twice fit a full sized three cushion couch in it, I’ve fit a mattress and bed frame in it at least 5 times. I have abused the crap out of this car and it still runs great. It isn’t the best at a lot of things but it’s good at almost all things. It’s really THE variety car.

The 5.7 Blacktop Edition R/T to match my Challenger in the same trim, can't beat that 5.7 Hemi which is very reliable & sounds killer with Flowmaster Super-40's! I just sold my '08 Ram Big Horn Edition & am looking at the 5.7 Durango R/T now which is the best looking SUV out today.

I have the 2020 Durango Hemi 5.7L Citadel with 7400lbs towing capacity. My brother has the 2022 Durango SLT Magnum 3.9L with a 6200lbs towing capacity. 8200lbs on bigger Hemi. We tow pig roasters and trailers for work and I just feel like it can pull anything. No complaints yet at 73,000 on the Citadel. She’s worked hard but no issues yet.

Both me and my brother bought Durango’s. We both haul trailers around and other stuff. It’s the best SUV when it comes to hauling stuff imo. He has the 2022 V6 and I have the 2020 Citadel Hemi. We use them for personal AND work. I currently have 65k on the citadel and the only thing I need to replace are the tires which I’m doing this Thursday. I ordered Michelins Cross Climate 2’s to replace the OEM Bridgestone Ecopias…not a bad tire…lasted a long time. I just love how TIGHT it feels making turns. Has a truck frame instead of a mini van frame so it just feels good. Hoping to get a better grip on the road during rain with the CC2’s. I’d be v C complaining if I had anything go wrong this early in my time with it…knock on wood 🪵!!
