I drive 3000 miles for vacation total in my dads taos and now i’m proud to say i’m getting rid of my golf for the taos (even tho i’m sad to get rid of my stick shift😢)

I almost bought one last year, but VW had a stop sale on the AWD versions at the time. I really wished that VW had used the 1.8L TSI from the Golf Alltrack, as the smaller 1.5L engine is a bit anemic - especially in my neck of the woods around Denver, CO. Either that, or make a GTI version with the 2.0L engine. In any case, it's a nice small SUV that's a better option than the Tiguan, which has become a bit too large for many people. I had an Alltrack which was a great "lifted" wagen, but was a bit on the small side. As such, the Taos is kind of a Goldilocks size, as it splits the difference between Tiguan and the Alltrack. PS: There is a learning curve on how to manage the dual clutch transmission from a stop and at lower speeds.

Can you do a video on some of the companies SUV lines? Going through from smallest to largest? Or comparing different size groups?

I would suggest you get a window mount for your camera, the one you were wearing bounces around a bit too much as you talked. Also, if your going to bash a mechanical feature of the car you might want to explain in some detail, with words, what it’s doing instead of a non descriptive clichéd statement. Perhaps then, viewers would get that the transmission works as it was designed, however, the way it works in certain stop and go situations isn’t most people’s favorite.

As good as this SEL trim is, in China VW sells a better spec Taos called "Tharu". It has a power lift gate, a digital climate control, and also the leather seats look a bit better from what I see in videos. I think they even have a bit of a bigger motor (2.0 TSI 4 motion version). Also the Chinese "Tharu" interior looks better than the Taos ! It's a shame that vehicle capabilities and interiors get dictated by corporate (marketing dept would be my guess). I think VW America wants customers to buy the more costly models like Atlas / Atlas Cross Sport. Even the Tiguan has power lift gates for example (but not the Taos, even in the SEL trim).

Ben they want to give the appearance of knarly pipes back there but bc its fam car, they don't want child to get burned by hot exhaust. Hot pipes buried beneath bumper.

If they would introduce a version of this with the 2.0t, I might get out of my GTI for it.

36K!!! With tax, you are at 38-39 thousand. Too much for such a small car. RAV4, CX5 for example are better cars in any case. Then the Tiguan is in the 40s!? 4 years ago a friend of mine bought a dealer discounted Atlas for 43K!

most of the cars sold in the US have Mexican manufacturing, it is an amazing logistics model, have you heard of NAFTA or USMCA? To qualify for tariff-free entry, automakers must use an increased minimum of North America-made parts of 75 percent

Wondering how the dual clutch does in eco-mode
@nerdgurl402 Жыл бұрын
I just bought a 2023 SEL last week. In my experience, Eco mode smooths things out at lower speeds and street driving, but I would recommend normal or sport for freeways.

@@nerdgurl402 Are noticing any shifting behavior that bothers you in low speed situations in town or parking lots? He keeps talking about "dual clutchy" behavior. Is it that jerky? Do you have any regrets buying it?
@nerdgurl402 Жыл бұрын
@@jeffmorse645 it is slightly jerky at parking lot speeds. I feel like I’ve had to adjust my driving style a little bit in these instances. Not a deal breaker, but less than ideal. I do prefer the smoother drive of the 8 speed automatic though, but I didn’t like the numb steering feel of the FWD when I test drove it.
