This is how much cars cost now. Manufacterers don't really have a choice. Production costs, and materials have increased due to inflation so they have to charge more for them. Car manufacterers have 1 goal which is to sell cars. If they could make them cheaper to sell more of them, they would.

Back in 2012 a new Infiniti G37 is 35k and comes with a 328+ NA V6. I miss those days. However a sedan or crossover over 37K is a better value if it’s an EV.

Even my coworker’s 2009 Acura TSX had powered drivers seat with memory and a powered front passenger seat. It’s still a 4 cylinder but, it’s based on the Honda Civic and has a 201 hp K24 NA 4 cylinder but still has some pep.

I sat in one of these 2 years before the public knew about it because I work for an international cargo airline and their test car was being shipped around the world and let me tell you it looked really awkward in person and it still does. The wheels are too small for the body and the interior feels cheap. It’s not even a Dodge it’s a Alfa Romeo Tonale. They have a horrible track record for reliability and this car will be no different. I don’t think it should cost $38k. Maybe starting at $29,890 and top trim $36,100. If you do get this car, pay a little more for the Alfa brand and get the Tonale. It’s a lot nicer and feels more premium. Wheels are still too small. Either way they’re trying to advertise it as being a sports vehicle when it’s not. It’s just another Dodge junk SUV that get thrown away after a few years.

I was really looking forward to the release of the Dodge Hornet as a possible replacement for my wife's Journey. Honestly, I would buy a used Journey with the V-6 again before paying $40K for a Hornet which is smaller and has a smaller powertrain than the Journey. Now, if I had money just to burn and didn't care about practicality of our next vehicle, which we would also be using for our business, I would buy the GLH model that I've seen for a fun little road runner. I also wish that Dodge, as well as all other automakers would stop pushing the electrification of cars. They're over priced trash.

It's not so much that it's a bad vehicle, it just lacks the features or quality reputation to charge more than 32k for it. It's wildly overpriced for what you get and there are too many options in that 40k price range that are way more feature rich and longterm reliability reputations.

Had a GT as a rental, it’s junk. Horrible fuel economy, tiny gas tank because it’s a PHEV, but once those 32 miles are gone on the battery you’re having to fill up constantly. The powertrain calibration is really weird, the first 10% of gas pedal does nothing. Oh, and driving it in 56F ambient temps at night in Los Angeles, I could get the coolant temp within a few % of the red overheating line by doing a few hard pulls. How is that even possible? I bet the thing would overheat instantly in Phoenix during summer.
