Not gonna lie, I was rooting for future Ben. I annoyed this Ben and having been out with you on so many mornings, I utterly admire your dedication 👍

I know exactly where you are at, I too have a local "to do" list, being honest, it keeps me motivated and inspired! I do enjoy your videos Ben, thank you so much for sharing 😊

This has always been one of my favorites of locations.The line of white boats across strung out horizontally across the middle, has always appealed to me. I'm happy to have you return there often, I don't get tired of it (though, come to think of it, can anyone ever tire of the West Pier, I think not). 😄

It’s a beautiful location isn’t it, and I am definitely not bored of it, more frustrated that it keeps pulling me back there and I leave with average results. Haha.

Ben if its blazing sun would love to see a Infrared of that image .. best wishes bud

That is a great shout! I am actually passing there today. If I get something I will share on social media. Thanks!

Thank you Ben. will add this location to the To list.

Ideally head there at sunrise (as traffic is challenging there during weekdays and rush hour), and coincide that with mist and a high enough tide. Not too much to ask!

Fantastic Myself and some fellow Tonbridge camera club members spent the day at the castle on Saturday We were wondering where this location was To get an amazing sky over it would be incredible Same old same old, never happens when you travel at these locations The frustration in photography

totally agree with your sentiment Ben, why not go back again and again as it's the thrill of the chase that keeps us going. Also being out is what it also all about and enjoying the time out from the norm.

I used to be all about getting the images, i would be disappointed if I didn’t go home with some keepers - but it actually make it more rewarding the harder an image is to capture. If you ever get the image that is….I will keep returning.

Ah, that's a beautiful place! I've tried a similar thing there but didn't get any interesting clouds or mist which I was hoping for. Great idea with the long exposure, it added a lot to the photo.

Thanks Jakub, I am not sure how far you have to travel to get there, and I am complaining about a half hour drive (in good traffic) but I am lucky to have this close enough to return to. I will keep trying!

It will be interesting to see the image you ultimately end up putting into the portfolio. Future Ben will figure it out, pretty sure of that. Happy trails.

Oh yeah, I'm quite the fan of the one with the grass in the foreground. I liked some of last year's too. That's why I'm looking forward to your choice.

Nice one Ben, love the enthusiasm as always :) Keep going mate, I think the Duke of Norfolk would be happy too. I got a bit distracted by the rising mist and silhouettes into the sun at 6:01, for an alternative shot haha. Great humour too. All the best 👍

Thanks Phil, annoyingly the only mist was behind the camera as you say!!! Do you think anyone noticed that I filmed the video in wide angle anamorphic?!?

'Revisiting' is not madness, I always consider it essential if only because it is the only way to understand the best spot to shoot from, time of day and exposure settings, this is even true of shooting wildlife :)
@benharveyphotography5 ай бұрын
The title was inspired by a saying “the definition of madness is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results” and I just keep returning and putting my tripod in the same spot and I keep getting average results. I am blaming the weather prediction, as that is the easiest thing to do, but maybe I should just adapt to the conditions rather than force the ‘postcard’ composition that I am going for.

Hi Ben, I understand where you're coming from, and yes, I have returned to the same locations trying to get something better /different without any real noticeable change or what I had in mind. Just out of curiosity have you taken any shots using the drone? I wonder how a different angle/ perspective would look? As always, happy shooting and best wishes, John. ;)
@benharveyphotography5 ай бұрын
Hi John, this is my second video at this location, the first time I captured some drone footage but the weather was overcast and it really did lack interest. I have seen some incredible drone images of the location, with an awesome sunrise and mist rolling in. I think this location is just going to be one of those lucky situations when i get the right conditions.

My awkward conversation usually goes something like: her: did you get some good photos? me: some were ok. her: What? that looks awesome! me: It's not exactly what I was hoping for... Are we too hard on our selves? Some times. Temperance. I know that when I do get the shot, the questions of whether I did or didn't cease to exits.
@benharveyphotography5 ай бұрын
That is very true Joel, I know I am always comparing myself to other photographers and of course I know that I am only seeing there best work; few share their fails. It was much easier before social media as I wouldn’t have seen an awesome aerial image of Arundel with mist coming off the river, now there are loads of incredible images to see and compare.
