I like the blasts on the additional snare!!! Also the BD tripletts are really nice in this song and insane to play at these tempos when there are so many one after the other ... Great as usual!
@kevinparadisdrummerАй бұрын
Thanks a lot ! I do not play this burst always that clean to be honest, same in Metastasis, so I work on heel toe to be maybe better at those !
@DrBlastianBАй бұрын
@@kevinparadisdrummer Well they look clean enough here for sure! I also started to work on heel toe for exactly this purpose recently, in particular when it is a variation with an eighth in between, but am far far from these tempi. I remember some of your older vids with heel toe where that also looked very clean! So looking forward to seeing that in action ...
@bmorestanceАй бұрын
@DrBlastianB Nice vids. Do you keep your beaters close to the head? About what angel? Nevermind I see it better in another video. They seem pretty close. Hard getting used to!
@DrBlastianBАй бұрын
@@bmorestance Thanks! My settings are actually the standard ones with spring tension at max. So the angle should be 45 degrees when there is no pressure on the board. When playing I typically maintain a pressure so that it might look like the angle would be smaller. The motion is then only ankle ...

All drum "playthroughs" should use this audio. It sounds raw to me maybe it is edited in post I'm not sure. But you can hear that the song is not perfect like the album and that is perfectly fine because it is very close. If you want to make a video where everything sounds perfect and it is edited and engineered in post do not call it a playthrough call it a music video.

Fucking hell, delivering as always. Is the left foot blasting to let your right foot breathe or just to be ambidextrous - or both?
@The0nlyy2 ай бұрын
I feel like it could be showing off LOL. If it was exhausting or difficult then you’d use both feet. It’s rare to see anyone blast that fast with one foot!
@kevinparadisdrummerАй бұрын
On this part, it make the transition to the 16th single stroke easier, and indeed it also let my right foot rest and make my left work a bit, otherwise, if I play all blast with the right one, the left one has way more training !

You make it look so easy! Question though... if you got on someone else's random drum kit, would you be able to do those foot techniques without tweaking the settings?
@The0nlyy2 ай бұрын
That’s like asking if a nascar professional driver could win a race by driving a Honda civic. Part of mastering your instrument is knowing how to tune it.
@kevinparadisdrummerАй бұрын
I don't really care about the bass drum rebound (except if mesh head !) with my ankle motion so yes, I would be too much bothered if I can take my pedal. If not, it really depend, sometime I even feel better on some other settings, sometime I just cannot really play fast !
@bmorestanceАй бұрын
@kevinparadisdrummer Thanks for replying! I have to keep tweeking my Axis and I can never find a sweet spot. I used to play a lot of punk shows and we all would use each others stuff, but I doubt you would ever need to do that! Haha

Archspire doesn't deserve you. You are way overqualified for that job. I would mark you as the next Aeon drummer or maybe even Meshuggah drummer when Tomas leave (sooner then you think).
@tfwnoyandereАй бұрын
yes please come to aeon
@1997slayerfanАй бұрын
Kevin would be a great fit for Archspire and with great respect, he is not overqualified. Archspire is not AC/DC and the songs are very demanding. I would say he is perfectly qualified for that. Kevin in Meshuggah is a very wild idea, I dont think he would be a good fit. He can play their stuff, that I am sure about, but style wise I am not sure. There is a big age gap too and known each other for decades. Tomas is a important part of the band and I dont think they would continue without him. You claim that he will leave them soon is the biggest bullshit I read all day.
@dulsrulesАй бұрын
@1997slayerfan@1997slayerfan Tomas is old. They are HUGE band and they deserve someone who can keep up. Same thing is going on with Cannibal Corpse and Paul. Nobody want to pay for a show and end up listening to Lars level of performance. Even if he is the big name, time is relentless. Band must be all time on peak of their performance during live shows. This is their main income. It must be perfect, no excuses.
@1997slayerfanАй бұрын
@@dulsrules While you are right about that, Tomas doesnt seem to lose his stamina or precision like Paul and Lars. Meshuggah are playing Bleed again in their live set and I havent seen or heard something where Tomas was off or struggling. If he maintains his body and skill with training and practice I dont see a problem. Look at Dave Lombardo, he has all of his power at nearly 60. Tomas is "only" 53 and I would argue Meshuggahs music is for the most part less physicaly demanding than whatever Lombardo does. They probably change their live set to easier songs, like Iron Maiden, before kicking Tomas out. Meshuggah is not Slipknot ;D. At least thats my opinion, but I guess only time will tell.
