my urologist said psa wasn't in area of concern; went to second urologist and he first went to DRE and said; you have a tumor, let's do a biopsy. It was cancer. If not for DRE I would have gone undiagnosed for who knows how long. DRE is obviously very important.

Wow lots of info there for a layman with rising PSA. 4.2 to 6.1 in 9 months. Had the PSA AND DRE couple of times. Followed by ultra . MRI and Biopsy. Prostate very smooth in both investigation but right lobe increased in size on second DRE. got tablets to check if an infection was present. Have to wait for 6 more weeks for another PSA check. General consensus is its BPH. Let's hope if Cancer appears it is remains with the prostate and does not do a Crocodile Dundee.(Go Walk About).

is That Collagen? or should be the epithelial? because according to the book I've read it is the epithelial that respond to 5-alpha-reductase inhibitors. The prostate is composed of Stroma (collagen and smooth muscle) and epithelial elements.
