Their is no light novel or manga since it is an original story so i can only so on speculations of the trailer and what the author/studio puts out.

I agree. At first in season 1 he was an arrogant passionate idiot. Slime Diaries which is between a couple arcs in season 1 shows him as just a passionate idiot (with how he sings and dances a lot along with his eagerness to serve Rimuru) , but season 2 shows Gabiru not only with his sensitive side, but also as a brave leader and fighter.

There's a bit mistranslation (I think) of what Middray said. He's strong enough to be a "playmate" for Milim. Meaning he could be a fighting punching bag instead of just a punching bag. But he wasn't entirely a match against her. That's far impossible.

Regarding Gobta, I think since they've evolved twice from Rimuru naming them and becoming a demon lord, Gobta didn't change physically so since he doesn't feel any different i think he just doesn't believe in his own strength as a result of not getting that ego boost from evolving physically. Suffering from a form of inferiority complex I guess you could say.

Gobta the Goat, Beni the Chad. Rimuru has some impressive subordinates. In the original story, there was not one, but two Charybdis because of the doppel magic item. Beni took out both with no effort. The anime unfortunately shows only one appearing and getting taken out. These episodes are always so much fun. Middray is definitely a character I enjoy. He's very honest and forthright.
