The manga version is even crazier. They all hiding inside the tent and when they step outside, they just see Folgan standing there. He doesn't respond for a few seconds and then just drops to the ground dead. Shocking moment in the manga. In the anime though, they somehow made it a perfect balance of shocking and hilarious due to the setup.

Some extra clarification for you about one of the soldiers. In the manga there was one soldier there that was just there to provide for his kids. It was a side chapter, and he begged Rimuru to not hurt his family. Rimuru promised he wouldn’t, and then killed the soldier. From the soldiers point of view, he saw Rimuru as a sad goddess, and felt blessed to have seen his face. His kids flash before his eyes, and he dies. I wish they had animated that, because it was so good, but I understand it was unnecessary content

Sometimes the short run time of each individual episode and the low number of episodes in a series really causes some great content to not make the cut. It's a bit sad, but on the flipside we get a lot of series that aren't bloated to heck like Naruto and One Piece have become (I'm still seething about "flashback" episodes and 5 minutes of a 13 minute episode being taken up by recaps - screw that for a game of soldiers). That scene looks like it would've been fun, but they already barely got in everything they needed to make the transformation work as it is.

Trivia: - The Superior Spirit that Razen summoned should've been able to put up a good fight with a normal Arch-Demon, then with Razen's support it would've been more than enough to defeat a normal Arch-Demon (not an ancient one though). Ancient Arch-Demons are on par with normal Demon Lords, and Primordial ones are stronger than normal Demon Lords. In other words, Noir/Kuro (since he still hasn't been named Diablo by Rimuru) is stronger than Karrion, Clayman, Frey, Orc Disaster and pre-True Demon Lord Evolution Rimuru. Razen had no chance whatsoever, and he has enough knowledge and understanding of demons to figure that out, hence his breakdown. - Here's a piece of info that was skipped in this episode. It's not very important, but it does carry a lot of weight world-building-wise in my opinion: When Raphael took over Rimuru's body (while Rimuru still hadn't awakened from his evolution), it really shocked Myulan a LOT. At first she thought it was Rimuru, but then she realized that it wasn't him, but instead one of his skills, she was utterly baffled since she had never heard of skills that could act on their own. This isn't even just a case of maybe Myulan not being knowledgeable enough. She's not the only one who was baffled by that. This was also a first for Noir/To-be-Diablo, though in his case he just viewed it as an additional reason why Rimuru is a special being (the first reason that motivated him to want to serve Rimuru is how Rimuru is the culminating point of the Time effect that was on the Mask when Noir met Shizu in the past). Others who were shocked include Veldora and Ifrit from within Rimuru (thanks to Veldora, they can see what's happening outside). - The reason why ONLY 3 demons were summoned by Rimuru even though he offered 20 000 corpses as sacrifice is because of Noir/Kuro/To-be-Diablo. Noir forcefully made it so that HE would be the one summoned (stopping/destroying all the other demons who were jumping at the opportunity for such a great offering, only allowing two of his own subordinate demons to follow him into the summoning). Edit: Heck, even if the summoning ritual offered no sacrifice whatsoever, Noir would've still answered the call because it was Rimuru. However, had it not been Noir, then that summoning would've summoned a LOT of demons. - As it was shown in this episode, Razen hadn't simply pre-cast a Nuclear strike spell to detonate upon his death, but he had also set it up to be able to cast it at any time he wanted. This means that he absolutely would've been able to kill Hakurou, Geld, Rigur and Gobta had they fought in the previous episode. Especially since the Nuclear Strike is just one part of Razen's magical arsenal. Out of the four of them, Geld is the only one who might have survived the Nuclear Strike spell (though he would be very injured by it), and then Razen would've been able to finish Geld off. Of course, Razen's victory wouldn't have been guaranteed. There are still chances that Hakurou and Geld might have been able to kill Razen, but the result would then have been the same (with the Nuclear Strike spell detonating). In the end, both sides decided that that fight wasn't worth it, and thus Razen retreated to an a worst battle, to an incredibly bad match up (Rimuru, and then Noir). - Power-wise, while Noir is stronger than a normal Demon Lord, he actually is a lot weaker than he could've been by then. He is about as old of a being as Veldora, but Noir decided to stop making himself stronger because he felt that it would make things too boring and easy. He had been bored out of his mind for most of his existence, his only real personal goals being to entertain himself and to find something he feels to be worth doing. Out of all the colors of Demons, the Black ones are the most eccentric and least orthodox. They don't seek greater power, nor riches nor anything greater, really. They mostly just seek things that they find themselves passionate about. Beretta (the Greater Demon summoned by Rimuru to serve and protect Ramiris) is one such Black Demon (you can see his full demon form (before the doll form) in the opening of season 2, with his black hair). In Beretta's case, he is somehow able to be a very good butler and to make good tea and stuff like that, which is really not something you'd normally expect from a demon (especially the ones from the Slime world). - The reason the calculation for the revival became much higher is because of 3 reasons: 1- Raphael having a lot more computation power than Great Sage. 2- Beelzebub guaranteeing that Rimuru can collect all the souls correctly 3- Rimuru now having a much higher magicule count and capacity, aka being able to handle a lot more magicules in one go to do such an intense Revival Art. - Also, I like how Benimaru resisted falling asleep for the Haverst Festival Gift out of sheer willpower, and he only let himself go when Raphael told him that it was now fine. credits to the on who wrote this

Also some Trivia - As of this Arc the only Normal/Average Demon Lords out of the 10 are Cayman, Carrion and Frey. Carrion and Frey also haven't evolved yet so in a way you could say that they are also above average Demon Lords. So Clayman is the only Average/Normal Demon Lord.

So when Rimuru awoke from the evolution, it actually wasn't him but "Raphael" controlling his body, also love the voice change they gave for Raphael. She sounds more feminine and not as much a computer anymore. Then when he first awoke, Myulan was like ----"is that him?"-----"is the skill acting on its own" but aparently they cut it completely. awesome episode though ! in the manga Rimuru doesn't use megiddo to cut the kings hand off but uses his sword instead, I thought that using the sword would have been cooler, but well these are minor details. And also in the manga Grucius and Ranga were at the town passage instead of the centre. Diablo and the other 2 demons came there and greeted them and showing the beyond beaten "Razen". Diablo stating that he was thankful for Razen for surviving the massacre and that leading to hes summoning. Also it was pretty funny how Razen was clearly beaten half dead and Diablo was like "I am greatfull for this man so i dealt with him carefully". Grucius laughing and thinking that "How is that Carefully???" XXD Oh and the demon thats left is one of the primordial demons. he is "Black"

When I first saw this and Rimuru opened his eyes I remembered the only time he ever had red eyes was with Great Sage but during the Festival upgrade for his Demon Lord status "Great Sage" upgraded to "Raphael" so that's who was controlling Rimuru for the resurrection of the dead. Raphael is more than that: SPOILER Raphael originally was an ultimate skill from former God, he then gave that skill to his wife and surprise the skill unlock its full power. However, after both former God and his wife died, Raphael remain dormant for long long time and refuse to have another owner. All this change when Rimuru came into this world. Raphael then chose Rimuru, but Rimuru was really weak back then, so Raphael ask "Words of the World" to DEVOLVE into Great Sage so Rimuru can has the skill. Raphael is an ever evolving skill, as later time spent more on Rimuru, deep down, Raphael start to develop emotion and ask Rimuru to name her. That's when Rimuru give Raphael the name Ciel means to teach in Japan. That's where Ralphael- Ciel is born, the BEST WAIFU ever that a little mischievous, the one skill that has a will of her own and a living being in form of a skill ready to serve Rimuru until the end of time.

Also, he didn't get rid of Merciless and Degenerate for nothing, Lord of Wisdon Raphael can perfom the same function as "Degenerate" and Belzebuub can do the same thing as "Merciless" but better becouse, first merciless needed the enemy to loose the will to figth, Belzebuub doesn't need that, that skill just absorb the Souls rigth away.

As a manga reader, this episode was ALMOST perfect. Loved it, 2 things were... kinda off but it made sense in the anime since you don't need all the background thinking of characters (benimaru accepting the sleep happened weirdly in the anime) Edit: Best thing was Folgen dying, I loved it in the manga, in the anime it was a flop with a cherry on top

I feel the manga did this a bit better as you see some inner thoughts of them. Take the king for example he remembered that Rimaru was meant to be weak and bad at negotiations so he thought acting tough would work for him (also if I remember correctly the king and bishop fainted after all the solider dropped dead from merciles). After the king lost his amr he tried to suck up to Rimaru and without even looking Rimaru used the merciless skill on all of the army except for the king and bishop simce he wanted them alive. Also that solider who went out to force the army to be a shield actually got killed while not in frame. The mage tried to comfort the king then they went out and found him standing still, once they touched him he dropped and they saw the hole in his head.

Just thinking about the scope of these events is mindboggling. That encampment was a 3 day forced march from Tempest. The encampment held 20, 000 soldiers. At 57.235% 11, 447 were dead. Rimuru was killing soldiers without giving it thought. Last known population census for Tempest was between 150, 000 and 200, 000 following the Orc Disaster. Everyone of those citizens have been granted gifts.

But failed then request to integrate a skill to have an evolution line to be better so she can serve rimuru better cause she doesnt want rimuru to be a sad boy. Which the words of the world allow and in turns evolve her as raphael the lord of wisdom and can be seen as a seperate entity from rimuru but is still his O.G. skill. Raphael took the form of female rimuru while veldora as a boy version. Rimuru is androgynous so we now have 3 version of rimuru lol.

The "Rimiru" with the red eyes wasn't rimiru at all. It's Raphael, the "Great Sage", which took over Rimiru's form in order to complete the evolution etc. Hence why he said "I order you in the name of Raphael" before he used the Beezlebub skill.

Great Sage took a LOT of upgrades. it went from Great Sage to Wise One, and then it tried and failed multiple times to upgrade, before it sacrificed Degenerate (the skill that let him create fake spirits, merge them with the kids, and separate Ifrit from Shizue) to evolve into The Lord of Wisdom: Raphael, yes the full name of the skill is The Lord of Wisdom: Raphael, there are not two seperate skills called The Lord of Wisdom and Raphael, and the new skill has replaced (awakened from) Great Sage

Also a clarification needs to be made for people who don't know that "degenerate" didn't truly disappear, it just became part of Raphael, meaning Raphael can do the same thing that degenerate can. To be fair, on the mages guy behalf, he tried to rationalize his nuclear attack not working as being a malfunction due to incantation spells having a small chance of not working. Let me clarify some things. There are differences between Great Sage and The Voice of The Worlds. 1. They might have the same voices, but in reality they are both separate entities. 2. Great Sage is an exclusive skill owned by Rimuru only. She is the one who manages everything from critical analysis to giving problem solving. 3. The Voice of The World is an entity that can be heard by anyone closed enough to someone (be it humans, monster, spirit, etc.) who are in process of evolution. For example, when Orc Lord Geld turn into Orc Disaster Geld. There's a proxy notifying its evolution. That is The Voice of The World, not Great Sage. Another example is when Rimuru evolves into a demon lord (which is this episode). The proxy which notify the evolution is The Voice of The World. That is why during Rimuru's evolution, the proxy said, "[Notice] Unique Skill [Great Sage] address petition to The Voice of The World. [Great Sage] request for evolution." That is The Voice of The World, my friend. The one who notify those lines. 4. Later, upon Great Sage successful evolution, she evolves into Wisdom Lord [Raphael]. That's why her voice somewhat change to be more "eloquent' to show how become advance she is. I hope this clears up some plot hole in the anime. Though, frow what I see people are not really pay attention to these kind of details. Lol
