I just got one of these. My buddy had one on last camping trip we went on and I fell in love. I found one pre-serial number, seller stated it worked. I was prepared to have to rebuild it but it works perfectly, it just needed a little oil. Its very accurate. Beautiful guns.

I'm working on watching a few every day. No telling what I might find on the local Market Place. Some of these older Models you have showcased are very appealing.

I also have a model 137 .177 cal. I found it in the garage of an old house about 10-12 years ago. It's in really great shape considering it's age, it's still all black except for an area that the black got scratched off and you can see the brass. It worked when I found it and it still works now (I just took a few shots with it). According to the owners manual, they co sometimes leak especially during the first pump. Cocking the hammer before pumping will help as it takes the pressure off the outlet valve. 5-6 pumps for normal use, 10-12 for maximum power, 3-4 pumps minimum or you risk getting a pellet stuck. When stored keep it lightly pressurized with 3-4 pumps.

Just did my first 317 and it was a nightmare getting the valve past the coupling that the stock screw threads into. The stock screw coupling is soldered on and has a washer that sits interior and is right next to the valve nut. The nut cam off without a problem but the valve proved to be a bear because this washer makes it really hard to get the valve past it.

Fantastic video's. I just purchased my first Benjamin 137 and really enjoy shooting it. Since this is my first 137 I'm not sure it shoots as strong as it should. I plan on taking it apart to see if I can figure out how to tune it up. I ordered the valve tool but I'm concerned about using the treaded end for removing the valve. Can you tell me what size the threads are? For example 6-32, 10-32, 8-32 and so forth. Thank you very much!
@WalnutandSteel3 ай бұрын
I don’t know for sure. It’s around a 1/4” or maybe a little bigger. Why are you concerned about using the tool?
@Paul-ke5lu3 ай бұрын
@WalnutandSteel Well I watched the other video you suggested in yours, and that person bought a second tool for removing the valve. I assume they were concerned about the threads breaking. I wanted to see if I could make one. My wife works at a place that sells specialty hardware.

Hi Nibs, going through old videos on the 130 series trying to assess the "health" of my 132 I've owned since new in 1980 (it was my 15th Bday gift), I'm getting 350fps with 14ish grain pellets which just bounce off plywood..do you think it's about it or should it be 400-500, iirr it used to sink pellets into a board.. it's been resealed about 10yrs ago, but no real use on it since and trying to decide if it's worth the $$ to send it off for another reseal. (renewed interest in airgunning) I didn't own a chrony until recently so I have no idea what it ran originally..my newer 1377 smokes it..cheers.

Probably could use a reseal. I don’t expect it would do much over 400 even working perfectly though

I have one of these in .22 caliber. If I laid it beside yours you couldn't tell the difference. The brass is well worn from thousands of pellets being shot over the years. I traded a Benjamin .177 rifle for it from a friend of mine when we were in Junior High early 70's. It came from his Uncle's Western Auto Store they owned here in Texas. I had the pump rebuilt years ago the only thing missing is the spring that holds the pump handle in the folded position after charging. One could probably be made by a gunsmith I also have a tin of .22 round pellets I can't remember if they were made for this pistol I have shot a few but prefer the skirted variety. I wish I had kept my rifle my Grandmother bought it for me around 1969 for doing yardwork for her. I kept it hidden in my closet for a couple of months afraid my mother would take it back to the hardware store. Is there a serial # on these to tell their age? I didn't realize they were made that long ago.

Nice video, I really enjoy most everything from your garage, and especially the old pistols. I have the model 132. I would be very interested in what, if anything, you had to do to the 137 to make it look so good. It looks fantastic. Thanks for posting.

its really only a concern with spring piston air guns. because the piston slams into the front of the front of the compression tube with such force. it can shatter the piston and piston seal.
