Just one clarification, Morena didn't manipulate Borksen and she didn't know that she cheated. The GAME manipulated her, since morena is also a player in the game it would also count as cheating if she's the one manipulating Borksen, you can see the game as its own entity with it's own rules that apply to both players, Morena only realized that Borksen cheated once she picked the yes card after which she said "so you cheated"

Yup, I felt like this was clear from how surprised Morena was at the end of last chapter, she definitely didn't think Borksen would choose "Yes".

Yes I also agree. I don’t think Morena knew Borksen cheated. She just knew and put it together when she saw her put down the Yes card. That’s when she looked back at what occurred (Borksen checking both cards, her crumbling the cards etc.). If I could pinpoint the exact moment she knew when Borksen cheated it was on the 2nd last page of 409. Borksen says that’s a relief (I’m looking at Togashi Troupe translation). Morena has a surprised look as Borksen presumably has put down the card she wanted. The very next panel is a close of up of Morena’s eye with a “…” (I initially thought it was kinda unnecessary). Morena’s eye looked saddened in that very small panel. I think that’s the moment when she knew Borksen had cheated.

I do think this is possible, but Morena was ready to go with the exact specifics of how the cheat happened. So it's hard for me to believe she was totally oblivious while Borksen "checked the cards" - she's too aware of the cheating possibilities.

Morena did not know. Morena had played this game with multiple people before, so she knows that cheating could be part of it. Who knows how many of them tried to cheat. But it is not implicit that she knew when Bork marked that card.

Sure, but Tserriednich being a mafia sponsor, he had the same escape route available to him that Luzurus and Zhang Lei had - he could have retreated to the lower tiers via Morena's (abandoned) VVIP room on tier 1. It's a little surprising for him not to get out of dodge when Ben basically announces he's taking over. (Also, just because the announcement talked about being "restricted to their rooms" doesn't mean Ben left it at that. Given his schedule, I think he'd have his soldiers barging into every room and ensuring he's got his head count.)

We know for a fact that Tserriednich is secured because Benjamin specifies that they can focus on securing the “lower princes” later. This means that at least two lower princes are still unsecure. Add luzurus and zhang lei and you get your four. I would have to assume its fugestu and mariam as well but its possible that fugestu was detained somehow and woble is not secure.

"Balsalkenburg" goes hard. I like that Benjamin is bringing Halk and Tserri's connection into the spotlight. Oito and Kurapika exploited that dynamic when negotiating the bodyguard assignments (which happened exactly 60 chapters ago, btw). Maybe Benjamin's personal soldiers learn of that during interrogations, and try to use it as cause for executing the whole coalition. I'm looking forward to seeing Kurapika fight without his Chain Jail win condition.

I actually think Tserri is one of the Princes secured in his room. As a mafia head, he doesn’t have a strong connection with the Heily anymore. In fact, it’s been completely severed (as Morena’s new Heily aren’t actually Heily). The “Heily” and Morena are actually on his hit list after he gets out of his room. Right now, I believe he’s fully content with continuing to train in his room. Every minute of training counts and 40 minutes of training since martial law has been enacted is huge for him. With the added pressure we may see a huge jump in his speed. I fully expect Benjamin targets his room first, enters in to eliminate him….and Tserri is looking at the timer. He’s now sub 1 second. Benjamin will be his first victim. Luzurus and Zhang Lei have strong connections with their mafia and have probably both escaped without much difficulty. So my prediction for which 4 princes are not secured are Zhang Lei, Luzurus, Maryam and Fugetsu. Just like you. 🙂

Especially when you factor in Nen beasts, Big Ben’s multiple nen abilities, Tserri’s depraved mind. Ben having a sickening end at the hands of his own evil brother might be one of the most disturbing moments in HxH history.

I’ve really been getting a similar vibe this arc to Death Note. All of the scheming and tension between Benjamin & Balsaberg was amazing. I need to see how Ben got caught lacking.

<a href="#" class="seekto" data-time="486">8:06</a> About the 4 missing princes…they are not Maryam and Fugetsu and here’s why: ~ Fugetsu: 1)she’s at the Justice Bureau already thanks to Kaiser’s advice and used her doors to get there so Ben he’s aware that she is in tier 2 under JB’s custody. 2) Fugetsu’s team is playing along the “detainment” in her room in tier1 since thx to her ability she could escape whenever the chance presents itself ~Maryam: Ben and hjs nen users squad barges into room 1013 and they find it empty only to meet Maryam’s GSB staring at them menacingly; I would naturally think they’d reach the conclusion that since his GSB is in the room so he is and they could eventually figure out it is the work of the GSB ability which means that also Maryam’s location is “known” by Ben. One of the unknown missing low ranking princes is surely Woble who fled brought by Kurapika along with Zhang Lei’s party…why? Kurapika was already aware of martial law risk + wouldn’t it be fun to see Kurapika accidentally meet the troupe? Either one of Fugetsu and Maryam is definitely one of the missing ones + Woble. It’s just speculation but….Hey it’s Hiatus Day 1 we’re here for it!!!

I'd definitely be interested in a video on how long you think the succession war will last. I've always assumed it'd be longer than the chimera ant arc and used parts of the chimera ant arc approximation for this arc. For example I feel like we're starting the 'palace invasion' piece of the succession war arc now. We're 62 chapters in compared to chimera ant arc's 133 chapters, so I agree we're not even at the halfway point. What I'm also curious about is if the arc will remain confined to the ship or bleed slightly into landing on the fake dark continent, and how that transition will go.

71 chapters*, the "Dark Continent Expedition arc" was never an official thing. The Succession to The Throne arc officially starts on chapter 340. And if we were to compare it by volumes, we're 7 volumes into this arc, and the 7th volume of CA was the Palace Invasion's start (in terms of Anime episodes 110-113), but personally I don't think we're even at the final phase of this arc yet, I think Benjamin is like the mid-arc boss that will take a good volume or two to take out, then the actual final phase will start where we focus on Tserri, the Troupe and Morena.

Marayam can’t be one of the unsecured since Ben has one of his personal guards (the bald one) in the nen room since the beginning, and it’s possible to communicate to others outside the room.

I don't think it's clear whether a Ben soldier remains in Marayam's real room. Ben soldiers don't typically sleep in the rooms of the princes they guard, they have a shift rotation. So unless the one in the room knew to stay, he might've easily left and then they'd have no eyes inside.

Hear me out: Kaiser’s “final bastion” is a bit of a misdirection, reminding us of the button he gave to Kaiser and the fact that his mindset is about patience and waiting out on Ben tragic demise. Kaiser knows about “Ben’s secret” right? So he knows that the baby is an illegitimate one, born from the horrors of the carnival festivals (probably the last held by Kakin mentioned also by Morena). So he knows that he has NO right to the throne whatsoever. Kaiser and the justice bureau could just (theoretically) “void” the hypothetical succession of Ben’s baby by leaking the fact that he/she is a second-track faker. Did Halkenburg ever read that damned letter? Does he know about Ben’s baby? Was this somehow intertwined on his plans? We see the baby just right when Queen Unma declares her support for Halkenburg…some twisted foreshadowing about Ben and his baby? And finally, I’m surprised you didn’t mention anything about Unma and what the hell is she doing and what role is she actually playing on all of this. I’m watching everything you make during the hiatus, with every Otter’s video the hiatus will feel like a week 🙏🏻

Silver lining is due to the nature of the manipulation aspect of her ability, it gives people pretty much no choice but to join. There is a good chance that a decent few of the members are in the same boat as Borksen and she may have allies that want to off Morena too. Even Morena stated that they do not all have the same personal goals.

Honestly idk if we’d ever see a character set foot into the dark continent. We got to get through this succession war, get onto the fake/new continent, wrap up the spider troupe/hisoka plotline, progress the Netero kids plotline, travel again to the true dark continent. And then finally begin the exploration. That’s like 50+ chapters away

Getting on the Fake Continent is secondary to all the Succession War content (including anything to do with Tserri/Kurapika, Beyond Children, PhantomTroupe, Hisoka, Morena etc.). Because the Succession War won’t last for the whole 2 month journey. We’re on Day 12 and things have already deteriorated on the ship. The Succession War will probably be Togashi’s last full arc. It has basically a chunk of legacy characters like Chrollo, Hisoka, Phantom Troupe, Bisky, Hanzo, Kurapika, Melody etc. who might all be getting their final acts. If Togashi lands this arc and finishes it perfectly, then I’m content as a HxH fan. I probably wouldn’t even care too much if the DC arc is never completed.

As a believer in true love and enjoyer of laughably simple motivations, I take Kaiser at his word that he’s just head over heels for Melody and that’s his major driving force As for hiatus topics, I want to hear your thoughts on what narrative purpose Tserriednich and Zhang Lei’s powers may serve. Both were given an inordinate amount of page time especially in the context of hiatuses breaking up chapter releases, so of course we will be seeing more about them at some point even as the camera continually points at everyone else. The only thing Togashi is more into than Specialists lately is post-death nen, and those coins seem well set up to be buffed by death since they could stick around. (Or be activated by death by “design”, even.) So I’m pretty certain that dude is cooked, but the effect of the coins post-death could be anything. The nen-activator theory presented in the text for them is a little too plain and predictable for me, though given how much page time was spent on Contagion after that (and Kura’s classes before) there does seem to be a running theme of ‘fast tracks to nen expertise’ happening aboard this arc. As for Tserri, the funniest-ending enjoyer in me wants him to just kick it off screen and be a giant red herring, but I don’t actually expect that to happen… what narrative purpose he may be fulfilling completely escapes me though!

I think the reason Moreno gave all that info away despite knowing, or at least suspecting, Borksen cheated was that she knew it didn’t matter. Once Borksen cheated she became restricted to Yes/No, meaning she would either die or join the team. At that point, it didn’t matter what she knew or didn’t know.

I think I might have mentioned this in the past but I have a few ideas for you to work on if the well runs dry: - Explaining the subplots of the chairman election arc like the bylaws and the pure paladins or whatever they were called - Have you spoken yet on illumi and kallato (sp?) and what role you think they play? Maybe even one video on what you think will happen to all the troupe members? - There's a few that feel like boilerplate videos I've seen from many HxH channels. I don't find these as interesting, but I'm guessing some people do: the remaining 3 endings, what happens after the war (do people get dropped off on the fake continent? who survives to go to the real continent, etc,) will gyro return and have an arc, will we see gon get his nen back, will gon father palm's kids, etc. Again, standard HxH videos. lol

IMO he's completely committed now that he's declared martial law and set the wheels in motion to kill all the princes today. Even if he were cured, he's gotta die or everyone else will - he's not gonna say "jk lol" and resume the old status quo. So I don't see him being cured at all.

I’m pretty sure Morena giving away all that extra info, as well as her doing nothing about the cheating, is just the condition required for the ability to work to begin with. That’s the risk; there is a very real chance she just ‘loses’ the game outright if the opponent plays fair. Most other risk-buffed abilities like Kurapika’s chains or Komugi’s MLG strats bet the user’s life but there’s no rule saying it has to be that

I'm starting to think Kaiser is actually a Pariston agent now, rather than Morena's. It ties into the idea that SM is also working for Pariston, because it's suspicious how SM framing Loberry for the murder is what led to Kaiser meeting Melody and getting a chance to be close to her (Pariston would know about Melody and there's a good chance he knows about her abilities, so she could be part of his plans). Kaiser's potential subtle manipulation might be what Kurapika hypothesized in chapter 348, an ability that erases the target's memories or manipulates them on a subconscious level.

what an amazing 10th chapter- gives us so much to chew on while we wait, between what happened leading up to this and what may come going forward. I do think there will be a bunch of content that turns back the clock to lead up to Ben’s coup and it wouldn’t surprise me if it takes 10, 20 or even more to go thru all that. especially if some of the plot threads need to be tied off.. like silent majority? how practically can those subplots continue under a bomb being thrown into the setting like martial law declaration? as for the hiatus I’ve been reading hXh in real time since ch.1 and you predict hiatus duration at your own peril 😅.. it concerns me that he’s slowed way down posting updates, did one storyboard a week ago and zero progress since.

I think Tsei would comply with the rounding up of Princes, knowing full well he can just kill them or his captors to get out. At the very least, I see a path for him not to care to evade Benjamin's guards, which would be enough for him to be amongst the "secured" princes.

I have a strong feeling that balkenburg actually took over Ben's body, ordered balsamilco removed as a traitor and self infected with the bio weapon. At some point, he either jumped to another person or just went dormant, for some reason. My two questions on this: - I wouldn't be surprised if balkenbug could power up the bow by using the supporters carrying the coffin, but who is eligible for the swap? People on the vicinity or anyone marked with the feathers? - Why would Ben declare tserriednich as one of the perpetrators? Halkenburg likes Tse, so no point in framing the guy. Ben despises the guy, but is that enough of a reason for him to specifically single out the fourth prince? He also accused halken, but that's a moot accusation at this point.

I think it's strange to say you'll deal with the minors later while literally walking into the building where one of them is being held bedridden, and Benjamin knows she's dying. You'd think he'd just send a soldier to go watch over her. And Benjamin has one of his private soldiers in Marayam's room watching him, the long-faced guy. It makes sense if he's talking about carting them all to one location, then yes, he'd still be missing these two and getting them to the same room as the others would require some tact and it makes sense to prioritize chasing down Zhang Lei and Luzurus, but is it also possible his words to his men are not 100% aligned with his "4 left" inner thoughts? If the 4 he's talking about are the mafia benefactors and two minors, that means Halkenburg's dead and both Tserriednich and Camilla (who can fake their own deaths and don't have a soldier with eyes on them last we saw) allowed the military to break into their rooms and cart them off somewhere. I'm skeptical of them playing nice like that. I also wonder how and why Mizai and Botobai went upstairs. They've stayed in the Political Ward on Tier 3 the entire arc and there's a steel wall preventing access between Tier 2 and 3. Did the door open when martial law was declared and they ran up to meet Kaiser before Benjamin got there? I guess to help protect Fugetsu?

I think taking the Justice Bureau is more for the strategic location and intelligence contained. It's a good place to consolidate power. If Fugetsu is sick in bed, then there's no reason for him to worry about her at all. Hence he's still leaving the younger ones for later.

i don’t think ben has any reason to believe that halkenberg is actually alive. he understands that “balsalmico” has betrayed him and that halk’s supporters conspired to assassinate him, but he presumably verified halk’s death with his own eyes, so he probably assumed that balsa’s body is being manipulated by one of halk’s followers rather than by halk himself. as for tserri, i think it’s in character for him to remain in his room and continue practicing nen even while under lockdown. edit: it also may be the case that, despite not having secured fugestu under martial law, ben isn’t considering her in his list of four bc he knows exactly where she is and that she’s being detained. in this case, the fourth unsecured prince is probably woble who escaped w zhang lei.

As for HXH I would be very interested to hear more of your thoughts on what Halkenberg could be planning because I had the idea, that he was planning to take over Benjamin's body in a symbolic you become what you hate. But now that's been thrown the window. Togashi is going wild with Halkenberg now and obviously won't be offscreen. Unless Halkenberg wants to take over Benjamin's child. Other thing to think about. Another note, You think Benjamin might get desperate and detonate the black whale leaving only Tier 1 intact? Because if I had roughly 9 hours to live, I would say damn the rest and eliminate the remaining princes before I expire. There is so much to be done then trying to search for the remaining princes in a wild goose chase when the clock is ticking.

I have an overcooked, crazy, prediction. Morena not being the 'original' Morena: Infection is a post mortem nen technique that at full power brings back a form of Morena, by making the person take on the entirety of Morena's goals and mannerisms. As a restriction, Morena isn't coming back to life. Someone else is simply being turned into the latest iteration of Morena. In exchange, Infection can completely override someone. This Morena cannot give up her goal even if she wanted to. She doesn't want to, but she also isn't the original Morena. She's her own subject. Borksen is going to become another Morena. That's why Specialist was needed. Borksen needed to be compatible with the Nen Category. They're going to improve upon Infection, and this current Morena is going to die. Edit: Additionally, Borksen bringing down the current Morena is part of the technique. Morena wants Borksen to successfully take her down. All these hoops are for the sole purpose of making Infection as a nen technique stronger by developing the technique itself across several users. This would fit Morena as a character well. She wants humanity to go extinct. Morena herself need not be alive to witness it. She simply had to develop a technique that'd work like this and she would have happily died to lay such a strong curse upon humanity, and thus dying to enable the Nen technique would be acceptable. Pay very close attention to how the rules of Infection are laid out. What it's function and purpose is. At the very top, you have the power to spread the effects yourself just as Morena is currently. The technique's logical conclusion is someone at the very top leading the charge for this Nen Technique to find as many people as possible to further its goal of killing people. Even if Morena herself dies, it stands to reason that Infection would keep going. Someone who wants humanity to die, including themselves, isn't going to pull any punches or do a half baked job. They have the conviction to lay out as many restrictions and vows as possible, make any necessary sacrifice, to ensure this one singular goal is met. Borksen isn't just a nen Specialist. Being willing to cheat to take down Morena makes her surprisingly similar to Morena herself, she's willing to play the game and assume a role for a specific goal and accomplish it by any means. Including deception. This nen technique isn't merely an infection. It's a plague upon humanity.

i think expecting 20 chapter a year is a little too hopeful , imo we are getting 10 chapters a year ,that's probably what Togashi have been aiming for ; for a long time now, still if you are right about 20 that would be really great, and that also would mean that the hiatus isn't gonna last too long especially if we are getting 2 batches of 10 in 2025 with a short pause in between. <a href="#" class="seekto" data-time="500">8:20</a> as for the kurapika being under arrest and the Princes being held captive in 1 room , there is no way its gonna happen , even under martial law Benjamin doesn't have the right to imprison the other princes without actual proof, like the announcement said for people in tier 1 stay in your rooms and wait , and benjamin himself said that he is looking for the princes for safety measures , other then '' 4th and and whoever is involved in the poison weapon being used '' So he wants to lock all the princes in their rooms and make his move at least that's what i think he's capable of doing. and for my theory i think Benjamin didn't get poisoned at all , he simply thinks he got poisoned . basicly halkenburg tricked him.

I do think fugetsu and maryam are the unknown remaining princes besides 3 and 7. I dont think tserri not escaping is weird, because where would he go and hide when his mafia aren't his friends anymore, plus he's hyperfixating on nen in his room. As for Halkenburg, I think his plan went wrong, somehow. He wanted to make a game-winning move, which would necessitate body-swapping, probably with another prince. Ideally, he would possess benjamin, even with losing consciousness-priority, rely on him purging the other princes with martial law, and dismantle the monarchy while ben sleeps. It might be that he can't use his ability on another prince, since it relies on is GSB's aura boost. Or the rumbling alerted benjamin to the danger. Either way, I don't see infecting ben with the TSK being part of his plan, as it would expose his ruse as balsamilco and probably make him unable to make further moves. Is there any way he could guarantee swapping himself with a single shot unless his entire team commit suicide simultaneously? We can't rule out that Halk is inside benjamin waiting for him to fall into a coma and take over, but then why infect him? I think it means Halk lost control of the situation, and panickingly removed the most destructive prince to make the best of the situation. The only way I see this being according to plan is if Halk knows about benjamin's child, knows he would murder everyone , including the baby, to give his child the throne, AND is able to shoot a posession arrow at a distant predetermined target immediately after poisoning ben while his allies around him take their own lives. Concievable if he didn't poison benjamin personally, but then Halk would still be unaccounted for, as the rumbling would still have alerted benny to the body swap. Also, I wonder if team Fugetsu panicked and went ahead with their plan immediately following the martial law declaration, seeing it as their last chance to save Fuug before Benny locks him down. So I think Halkenburg is most likely dead, Luzurus might be dead, and Benjamin will die soon. My prediction is that no other princes will die until after martial law is over and things have settled down.

I think we will wait like 6 months and get 10 chapters in the summer which will take 2.5 months to complete my then there would 3.5 months left of the year which would be too short for a Hiatus. So yeah my prediction is that we are getting another 10 in 6 months and thats it for 2025. We should be grateful, its far better than waiting for 2-4 years.

Maybe Benjamin counts him as securred since he is in his room and was there for most of the time and tserriednich certainly wouldnt care as long as he can keep practicing nen
