how'd you get started with all this electronics?

I only picked electronics up a couple of years ago. I was unstimulated with my job in the military, and realized that I knew almost nothing about electronics. So I used it as an outlet for mental stimulation. The way I got into it was by buying some cheap component assortments on Amazon (eg. transistor kit, resistor kit, capacitor kit, diode kit, inductor kit, LED kit. All of these cost just a few dollars) and making basic circuits like logic gates, oscillators, boost converters etc. It's important to develope an understanding of what different components are used for. Once I knew the basics, I eventually bought microcontrollers and played with programming them.

@@BenjaminMarshallScienceMan thanks man. im an electrical engineeeing freshman and ur inspiring me to make my own diy projects, i just find all of your projects so damn cool man! i've been feeling turned off by engineering lately in favor for math and physics. i feel like i rediscovered why i liked engineering in the first place when i see your videos. i've only tried microcontroller programming before with an arduino so i'm going to try making my own basic circuits like you did.

I'm not an expert, but a cursory wikipedia reading says that diamagnetic effects are much weaker than other types of magnetism.
