I had this exact issue with an old CJ250t - after hours of fiddling it was the springs in the auto-advance mechanism - They had lost their “springiness” - a new pair sorted it right out - no more running on.

My CD200 timing is also right at one end of the slotted holes, in fact I had to file them out a little, I have put this down to aftermarket points being of slightly different proportions to the original.

I have had Benleys for years. I did 160000 miles on one, 66000 on another and the one i am putting back on the road after getting it historical, has only done 50000. Carburettor problems with is leaking fuel from the overflow. Any suggestions. You should be proud of your Benly as lt has been garaged most of its life by the look of things. Clean as a whistle. Mine not so.

Try adjusting the idle jet that will sort it

I’ll have a go now it’s running a bit better. Before it was so rich adjusting the pilot made no difference.

You can fit a black and silver number plate if the bike is over 40 years old.

@@guywillison7447 Hi Guy,Yes. I have a 1973 CB750 and a 1972 CB450 both on black and silver plates. You can check on the DVLA website. Cheers Tim

@@timc5303 From the DVLA and Footman James.........coming into effect from the 1st January 2021, there has now been a change and going forward, any vehicle constructed after 1 January 1980 are now ineligible to display the black and silver number plate despite being recorded in the DVLA’s historic tax class. Those vehicles with a construction date prior to 1 January 1980 will continue to be able to legally display black and silver number plates to avoid any undue costs of replacement.

Are you in Suffolk, because I sold an identical Benly 6 years ago and wonder if it's the same one. Oh I've just seen the number plate and it's a different bike.
