I remember, the alignment to Thornlie was originally intended for Mandurah railway line by Richard Court government. But during Geoff Gellop premiership the plan was altered so the Mandurah line would branched off right in Perth
@BennettBrookRailway4 жыл бұрын
Correct.
@Mechknight734 жыл бұрын
Although in the present plans, on which construction has already begun, the Thornlie line will be extended to link up to Cockburn Central. Part of the process of doing that will be to realign the existing freight lines beside it; moving them across to make room for the suburban line's tracks

I’m not 100% sure if you will respond but Can you explain all the letters on the train, like Perth T, Perth C ect ect
@BennettBrookRailway2 жыл бұрын
The letters refer to the 'stopping pattern' of the train i.e. which stations the train stops at. Both trains use a large portion of the Armadale line, with the T train splitting off from that line for only the last few clicks if it's run. A T pattern stops at virtually every station on the line on its way to Thornlie, whereas a C train to Armadale runs express through most of the stations the T train stops at.

Another great video from you , I love this sort of thing as it gives us a greater appreciation of how things look from up front & from your perspective as well ; I've often wondered as to how the Thornlie line looked from a "driver's view" & it was great to see how it does look ; awesome stuff , Thanks again.

Thornlie didn’t even have a line when I lived there in the mid 80’s.

Yes it was build in 2005 for the Mandurah Line but they scraped those plans and then it just became a random spur to make use of the tunnel.

Whats with the additional tracks at vic park at the city end? also i assume the large areas of smooth spaces at perth stadium are for more tracks in the future?

The tracks at Vic Park are for additional railcar storage for event days. You are correct about the large areas of ground at Stadium station being for future expansion.

Alan Dawson I think it's related to the frame rate. I too noticed it during editing.
@witzendoz5 жыл бұрын
I just think it looks interesting
@Locoman38014 жыл бұрын
@@BennettBrookRailway That would be correct , the "flicker frame rate" does some funny things like that to various videos & films as the shutter speed or flicker rate coincides with the sleeper spacing's etc.

It would be fun id assume. Rio Tinto is freight and a lot of people only get to be home 2 days after about 14 days of work most of the time. From what I've heard. Passenger rail is good for the time off. Home every night and you have like 2 days off

The train at 43:00 is waiting at a signal. I believe its waiting for the filming train to pass so that it can crossover the Midland and Armadale mains to enter Claisebrook depot yard.
@locohombreau4 жыл бұрын
@@BennettBrookRailway I agree. If you look where the waiting train is, there is a rail crossover just ahead of him and then follow it along more, there are a series of crossovers. Fairly sure the destination "label" of the waiting train doesnt say Midland, either.
