Been watching Sydney Cab Videos and didn't know anything about Perth until you posted this one (subscribed). Then I discovered your cab view playlist and I'm going through all of them (real time). Thanks for the vintage videos, too. That's how I first came to your channel. (I'm in the U.S.) Perth seems very clean, and they make a good effort keeping the graffiti at bay, at least when the videos were made. Looking forward to the future extensions in Perth when they come online.

Yep, Perth’s system is underrated. Unlike Sydney and Melbourne it’s still state gov owned and operated, has reasonable fares and is reliable. Can kinda thank the lower patronage and newer infrastructure for that. But importantly, it’s being expanded in line with/ahead of population growth and not as an afterthought. The airport rail link total cost was $1.86bn, has a 130kmh operating speed and a paper ticket costs $5 vs Sydney $20 odd. Meanwhile the Victorian govt is hoping to do it for $11bn, $5bn coming from the Commonwealth mind you. And they say WA is getting too much back for what we contribute.. Really recommend the Rmtransit video on Perth’s metronet!

These videos bring back memories; when I was there Alan Carpenter was premier and the idea of MetroLink was just a dream not a reality…..the service seems to connect well from T1/2 although a feeder service similar to the old Cannington to Thornlie extension would be something that I’m sure would go down well with the public.

Most modern metro systems have them, Singapore has them too, for example. Perth's Transperth train system is more or less a suburban railway as opposed to a metro system. It still runs and operates more like a railway than it does a metro.

I think they should add carriages to the rear of the train specifically designated for passengers with e-ridables like scooters. Take out the seats, make it standing-only with plenty of room for their vehicles. I can see it becoming a problem in the near future where the regular passenger carridges become difficult to navigate due to all the e-ridable vehicles taking up space. Preferable to banning e-ridables from trains entirely like they've already done with busses.

Have a good look at JFK Airport or Schiphol Airport, both I have been to, and both shit all over our perceived standards of public transportation.
