I was in the audience. This was an amazing show all-around.

These 2 songs are "Sweet Lorraine" and "Avalon". (Benson solos on Song #2, which begins at 7:14.)

Benson captures Charlie Christian's greatness in his solo on Avalon! On the other clip 'Seven Come Eleven' he plays his George Benson style and pulls it off well.

True. I enjoyed reading his autobiography "On The Record". It was so good that I read it twice and may pick it up again in the near future.

After this show,Benny asked George to do a couple of gigs on the road which he did..then bennys manager asked george to be permanent in the band,George turned it down...Benny threatened George! with a “you’ll never work in this town again” kind of threat..blacklisting George.. George didn’t care and continued on and the rest is history...

Interesting story. I hadn’t heard that before. He’d have to have a serious amount of self confidence to turn down Benny Goodman, Miles Davis, and James Brown that early in his career. I wonder if that Seven Come Eleven album that Benny recorded in 1975 and George played on was before or after this.

Yep, sure is. The rest of the band is: Red Norvo, vibraphone; Milt Hinton, bass, and Jo Jones (I believe) on drums. Talk about your all-star groups.
