Has anyone mentioned that the song is "Angel Eyes" (1946)....? also sung by Ella Fitzgerald.

I remember it well! Two immortal talents sharing a sweet duet. 💞 . At age 9, I requested and received a personally autographed photo from Sophie. Many years later, while ill, the photo disappeared. A couple of years later, it appeared on Ebay, in the original frame in my own city. Talk about miracles ✨. Of course I once again treasure it, until 🎵 Some of these days 🎶some people 🎵 MAY miss 🎶ME! 🎵

Sutton Foster is much better singing 'anything goes'. Sutton is more subtle and melodic, Ethel is too harsh and strong, she overwhelms the song - sometimes seems more like shouting than singing. Ethel misses the nuanced humor and whimsicality, Sutton nails it.

The program was called a "Jazz Jamboree" with the Dave Brubeck Quartet opening for Louis and the All-Stars and then as an "Added Attraction" Bernstein and the Stadium Symphony playing just this, for CBS' documentary "Satchmo the Great".

That was a great time to live. Everybody was happy back then. Things were great up until the JFK assassination. Then came LBJ & everything got dark, dank, & dismal. Peace was overtaken by the Vietnam War, & the use of LSD swept the USA. Even Paul McCartney loved Sophie Tucker & paid tribute to her in a comment!

Ethel could be a foul-mouthed tigress with directors and producers, even child actors. Once, when she heard a child actor swear, she asked, "Where the f--k did that kid learn to talk like that??
