definitely the most organic and versatile drummer on the web.
@martianshoes12 жыл бұрын
Greb is the most organic player I have ever seen. He knows how to sound good. Just seems to know instinctively...from eons of practice and raw, innate feel. Imagine how many offers he gets to play with high profile acts\bands. It seems he uses what rep he has to just do what he wants to do, from a creative standpoint. Damn, I admire that.

What has always impressed me most of benny it's his natural approach to music behind drums; Watching his DVD, in particular when he shows how to divide a 4/4 pattern and how to take these divisions as the base of practice, is a great experience that i suggest to everyone; In some parts it's obvious to say "wtf??? Is that simple???" Awesome

Benny may be the best overall drummer in the world. I don't say that lightly but Benny can kill it in every style of music. He can kill in jazz, then kill in metal (he has double bass chops that would shock many), then he has a nice handle on melodic Latin grooves as well even hand drumming abilities on congas.
@blica112 жыл бұрын
the 1 thing , among other things, that i love about his drumming, is that he's not just about blinding chops and technique, but he's got a full grasp and comprehension of musicality, and makes the drums sing like no other drummer i've ever heard.. h'es just a superb, 1st class drummer !

@Luis Rivera The ostinado is LRLR, with the & being on the hihat. So, that becomes KKHK. Very similar to a Samba ostinado, with the extra kick on the E. It's very cool sounding and also difficult. But, like everything out there...it just takes time and work to get it down.

I just discovered Benny recently. He is such a refreshing change from everyone else. So tasty with complete command. I am really inspired by him. I have to admit I am going to be stealing some of his concepts. He is great. Thanks Benny. I love the ostinato on the feet RRLR RRLR etc. Need to practice stick control over top that ostinato to get your hand free. Could take along time but its worth it.

i've been drumming for 30 years...and for the most part i've found drum solos pretty boring (including my own). i've always found it far more interesting to hear how a drummer plays within a song. Benny is an exception. flawless technique, but more importantly, he has incredible musical instincts and tremendous creativity. his solos are full of surprises and inspiration. he's clearly in a class by himself.

Incredible. I notice he added an extra right foot bass hit around 3:18, throwing off foot pattern by two!!! Before to you call me critical, I know it takes nothing away from the performance. It just makes me less depressed about my own drumming. I've tried to pull off that foot pattern and it happens to me every time... usually after 15 seconds, not 3 minutes. I reiterate though, incredible.

i wish that this was recorded from an angle where we could see his footwork. 5:35 is interesting, how he combined it with hi-hat.
@rhythmista77078 жыл бұрын
You can see his set up from behind his kit in certain videos on youtube..He has the pedals right next to each other, and having a significantly large stature and foot, he can control both pedals simultaneously with one foot.. But that's another story..To have the strength to press down on two pedals while moving every other limb independently is something that takes great stamina and insane precision, both of which Benny has in abundance..

Actually, scratch that- he plays the backbeat with LH, so it's more likely to be a paradiddle variant. He also keeps the bassdrum in unison with the RH for added emphasis.
@rhythmista77079 жыл бұрын
I have just 2 things to say to Benny.. Contact lenses, and head gear ;) On another note, I also think that he can create music with just about anything he can play on.. He could probably make a drum beat standing in a body of water and playing on top of the water with his hands..
