i've seen a lot of double bass drumming from him and i'm not a fan of it. but he defenetly kills it with single bass, i simply love it, great beats.

I think it's the same size drum. The first and third clip he has it real open and resonant. The second sounds much more muffled. It sounds around the same pitch. Some things to keep in mind also is that the quality of his set is top notch, the mic, the eq, and the room.

he tightens the steel strap thing- i dont remember the name- which gives the snare its characteristic sound- gives u very clear ghost notes and kills a it the overtones. the snare itself is low tuned

You could try coated heads, an impact badge, a head with tone rings, muffling inside the drum (such as a pillow), or a hole in the front head. I would have to guess since it sounds like the tone is pretty even that both heads are tuned the same. Good luck.

As far as i know benny uses mostly sonor sq2 drums. (Drums that are way too expensive for either of us)

I doubt it. All that would do is choke and muffle the sound so much that you barely hear it. Personally i think it would sound horrible unless for muting purposes.
