My favorite part of the lesson was when Benny talked about not having a "music background" and thinking that maybe he "doesn't have it." I have had those doubts in the past and occasionally still do, but the at the end of the day, it comes down to the effort you show and the dedication you have. That's a message I think all drummer and musicians and PEOPLE should really apply to their lives in their own ways.

Drumeo "Time" and "Feel" sections. On the other hand you must be as perfect as possible metronome for a band. On the other hand without great "internal mix" between hats, ride, crashes, ghost notes, rimshots and kicks entire song will sound weak without groove and drive.

Jojo Mayer shits on everyone's head. Literally. The guy is an either-you-get-inspired-or-you-drop-the-sticks-forever type of destruction machine, I don't think anyone can compare. Cindy Blackman is basicly a force of nature. Todd Sucherman has that humble virtuoso type of playing that you just can't pay for. Jack DeJohnette flies over the kit. Ahri Hoenig plays melodies and the kit, even modulates that shit around. Virgil plays different subdivisions split between different members and does different odd groupings over that. Benny is very good, but he's still got a lot to learn compared to the Masters. That's why he's so humble: he knows he has a lot to learn, despite all he accomplised so far

Ksianth yeah, that must be it, cause no one is able solo for 2 minutes and then kand it exactly on the kick
@Ksianth8 жыл бұрын
To be honest, I can't perceive if you are being sarcastic or not but I will assume that way:p I did not suggest that and even if you have click playing in your ear, you still must play the exactly same number of bars every time which still makes it an amazing performance. I just felt like a click track is more likely.
@maxsergeant99348 жыл бұрын
No I wasn't being sarcastic. And the fact that (if it's true what you are saying though) he or any drummer uses a click track while playing these kind of things doesn't make the performance any less fantastic. Counting bars is indeed kinda difficult to do for two minutes while playing a solo.
@taylordoiron87858 жыл бұрын
There's also a chance that his in-ear mix could have some counts and cues like "Bridge, 2, 3, 4" and "Solo, 2, 3, 4" etc to help guide through the song. I'm not saying that's what he did, because if anyone can groove with an off-time feel for so long and still come back in on the beat, it's this guy, but I'm just throwing out another possibility!

Drumeo My favorite part has to be Benny playing Grebfruit. Also as a german myself i liked how he sometimes used very typical german sayings and just translated them literally into english :D

Reply if your in the same situation were unintelligent people from school keep saying drumming is not an instrument
@JS456785 жыл бұрын
Nick games I’m a drummer and I’m first to admit that a drum kit is not a musical instrument. It is merely for timekeeping or in more advanced drumming terms, the art of subdividing the beat. You shouldn’t feel shame or anger, embrace drums as a glorified metronome. Nothing more and I’m a drummer.

@@JS45678 you are disgustingly, depressingly wrong.

Chris Brock Please tell me where I’m wrong my friend. I’m a drummer and guitarist, I’m always open to being educated.
@SneakySeriyuu5 жыл бұрын
@@JS45678 you're acting as if the drummer doesn't make a difference to a song. Instead of getting into some stupid argument, I am just going to point you to some songs. Breathing Underwater by Hiatus Kaiyote, Lippincott by Animals as Leaders, Lingus by Snarky Puppy, Lateralus by Tool, Strings of Light by Yussef Kamaal, Sugar Cane by Nubiyan Twist. Listen to these songs, really listen, and you will understand.
