A little disappointed you didn´t include the gentleman in the audience who used the argument of killing 100 civilians to get to 1 combatant and that if you do that thousands of times over, destroying almost all infrastructure in the process, it would be considered a genocide. Valid point to mention, i think.

The main problem I have with the typical Palestinian advocate, is that it seems like their ONLY perspective is that Israel is an evil colonial power that is an invader in Palestinian land, and should not exist. This is an EXTREME position. This position basically advocates for the complete elimination of Israel. Why don't any Palestinian advocates say something more reasonable like "Israel's response in Gaza is too extreme." Or "The current Israeli government clearly is not interested in peace because they keep expanding settlements into the West Bank." They never say these kinds of things. It's ALWAYS Israel is an evil colonial power that shouldn't exist. There's a reason for that.

The answer: the Palestine cause is a cult. It stems from the identity itself, which is an anti-indentity (anti-Zionist) rather than a positive meaning identity (like with a distinct culture, tradition, language, history). So it's not surprising, unfortunately. It may seem provocative, but in truth, apart from hating Israel, they don't have anything in there that distinguises them from their Arab brethren.
@R2d2..
@R2d2.. Ай бұрын
@@hata6290 As an Ex Muslim, it’s not only that… If Israel was Yazidi for example (minority of the Middle East that Muslims persecuted like Jews), they would cry about it just like now. Cry about apartheid and racism and oppression because one country managed to free itself from actual apartheid and oppression. If Israel was Muslim and also get arabized, they wouldn’t care a single bit. Just like a Palestinian identity would’ve never existed if the land was given to Egypt or Jordan. No freedom fighters, no identity, nothing they would claim.
@R2d2..
@R2d2.. Ай бұрын
And that’s what they raise Palestinians and the entire Arab-Muslim world with. They claim everything in the Middle East is originally Arab and Muslim. If it isn’t, it’s colonized and stolen. Growing up, we were told that before Israel was declared a state, all religious and ethnic minorities in the Middle East used to live peacefully with Muslims together but then the evil Jews came. Which couldn’t be further from the truth. But it’s enough to just repeat a lie. Most people would never dare to question them.

Mehdi even obfuscates by saying “I am showing the full context” of a quote from Benny, nothing about the tension during the second intifada, which is not a substantive argument to state Benny’s overall perspective of the Israel-Palestine conflict. This event was just meant to boost support for Palestinian self-determination, degrade Israeli/Jewish self-determination, and to further distort any rational discussion that could be held on the conflict by painting all arguments for Israel’s existence invalid.

It was impossible to leave a large fifth column in the country. @@testcase6997 no man you missed it. The desire to establish a state from the Jewish perspective is legitimate from the points I wrote (it doesn't indicate removing existing population), but the "there was no other choice" came from the hostility of the Arabs to the establishment of the Jewish state. Bottom line is that the Arabs and Jews were competing for a state on the land. Just because at the beginning of the Zionist movement there were more Arabs (0.5Mil) compared to Jews doesn't give them the automatic right over the whole land (the Ottomans owned this land). Jews settled empty land they bought from the Ottomans and Arab lords. Arabs didn't like the competition and started using violence. The Jews responded with violence as well and it's going on since then.

They do this to discredit anything Benny morris says about anything. By making him look racist or whatever, they intentionally mislead the crowd to immediately dismiss anything he says as racist. What a stupid and evil thing to do. Mehdi keeps interrupting Benny, and doesn’t let him finish his point, which is another way to fool the watcher into hearing only disjointed sentences and not fully formed ones, so they won’t understand the full intention and only get sound bites.

Watching Destiny for me is like picking at a scab. Play central thesis is that Ben Morrison and pro Zionist are correct and then proceed work backwards from that conclusion. He needed the context for the way in watch Morrison used barbarism, got it and it was exactly worse than what was alluded to and then proceeded to defend it as if it was OK to categorize entire groups that way. Also, the sheer arrogance of someone like Destiny whose extent of his knowledge of this topic started after October 7 in which he put together a couple of super specific details and facts to get by in a debateby a debate and trip up opponents on minor details while they’re focused on the macro picture. The same guy to say someone like Hassan don’t know anything about what’s he’s talking about. Finkelstein embarrassed him not just because of his verbal accosting but specifically because destiny went him hoping to find a ground where he could introduce an idea or part of the debate he was comfortable in rather than having having an wholistic understanding of this conflict. He shits on having to read endless amount of books but that’s what having a full picture requires.

by the way, just to add to the question of nuking nukes. Thermonuclear warheads require very precise timing to unfold their maximum potential, thats also how variable yield warheads are made, because intentionally messing up the timing is sufficient to significantly decrease the potential of a nuke. So no, nuking a nuclear facility will not cause some devastating chain reaction, of course fallout and stuff like that would be a concern but yeah
@alphmar3778
@alphmar3778 Ай бұрын
also, one advantage is delivery. variable yield nuclear weapons can be dropped from small aircraft like the f35 or f16, and can therefore be delivered a lot easier than a huge conventional weapon which they would just not be able to carry

There were a line of statements on the Jabalia Refugee strike that were odd from Mehdi... Israel said that they struck at tunnels that connected under neath the building which caused the collapse, while also killing Ibrahim Biari who in fact is a Hamas commander. So Mehdi just saying there were no militants is literally false. And Israel gave evacuation orders to the camp but there were literally people that just stayed KNOWING there was a strike incoming, some because of old age and health issues but apparently a large portion of people just didnt leave the strike zone. So why is he saying it was unlawful? Because the death count was high? People STAYED in the building and there were Militants using the area. On top of the fact that Hamas does not have any uniform or identifiers of even being a Hamas fighter. Did he not see info on any of the counter claims?

33:00 conventional bombs can be fitted with a hardended nose and fuses that allow for the targeting of underground targets rather than surface targets. Nuclear weapons are air-burst weapons for surface targets. Because of the ionising radiation released by a nuclear explosion, normal 'stable' matter is turned radioactive which then becomes fallout. An air-burst not only increases the radius of thermal and over pressure (shockwave) damage, it also prevents the ground from becoming radioactive because the air between the explosion and the ground absorbs all of the ionising radiation which creates a bigger fireball. All depends on whether the Iranians build their nuclear facilities underground or on the surface. Tactical nuclear weapons can also be delivered by balistic missiles, negating the need for aircraft to fly into Iranian airspace which would be required to drop a conventional bomb.

The biggest bomb the US has ever used afaik is a MOAB which has a .011 kiloton yield. The smallest nuke the US has ever had the W-54 has a yield of about .01 kiloton so they're roughly equivalent. Moreover, he's become the symbol for the continue Hamas resistance in Gaza, to both Gazans and Israelis. As such, if he's killed or captured then Israel could definitively claim to have "won the war". As the word colonialism came up, it has to be addressed and defined in the context of the discussion (in the same way that genocide has to be addressed). The pro Palestinians use these words to enflame and curry sympathy from the audience. It’s not an argument to accuse people of being colonialists or genociders. With that said, the panelist was right to go to the history. Muslim Arabs came from some place. There was an influx into the western reaches of Ottoman Empire at the turn of the 19th C from other parts of the empire. This was to counter the influx of Jews. We are not talking about big numbers but given the small pop bases at the time they are significant. Jews have a greater claim to indigeneity to Judea Samaria than the Arabs. So it’s a weak argument for Arabs to bring it up. The whole Nakba issue is nonsense when u realize that it happened in the context of a war of aggression against the Jews by several invading Arab armies (Egypt, Jordan, Syria, Iraq, Lebanon, and a small group from the Arab League). That 700k were displaced was due to the war. The Arabs that didn’t leave the land were absorbed into Israel.
