Fun fact: Line 2 trains are Japanese built and the older train use Toshiba GTO VF Drives like on the Hankyu 8000, JR 207 series and a lot more!

3:18, 4:01 And the older trains in the Line 1 (series 4000 i think) have same sound as the Paris Ms 61 séries (today scrapped).It's the same train family.

I never get bored of Cairo's metro, especially the Toshiba GTOs in line 2. And a note to add, the station you showed at the end of the video isn't exactly abandoned; it is the older station. A newer station was built just beside the older one to make it closer to the New El-Marg metro station. The train station is called El-Marg/23 of July, and it is the end of a 19 km long train line that goes to Shibeen El-Qanaater. The government plans to rebuild that train line as an extension to Line 1, by the way.

The second station closer to the metro is also abandoned. The railway itself is abandoned. It makes sense to convert it into part of the metro.
@AmrVeto6 күн бұрын
@@benolifts It is not abandoned, you can tell by the condition of the rails. If you were there at the right time you could have seen a train hauled by a G22 locomotive. You can search the train line's timetable on Google.

18:48 i wonder if Egypt uses or used lower quadrant or upper quadrant semaphores? Because here in Italy, the last of our semaphore signals still in use all appear to be lower quadrant ones (down dropping ones). But those in my UK home of Sussex are instead upper quadrant ones (up dropping ones)

some of the train doors sound like the hong kong MTR and the Tokyo metro

Utilitarian metro. That city is full of ruckus.

First Essex. Cairo's Metro system looks much better than the bus system - both official and crazy buses. The stations and trains are impressively clean and tidy.

during 70's france helped Egypt for many things ,especially the metro. Line 1 as RER A (in Paris) take two suburban line linked by a tunnel under the downtown.
