Love the look of the new aquarium. You can definitely see a difference.

I love the lighter substrate. I don’t like dark substrate. Enjoy your new setups. Awesome

It will look even better with some vallisneria in the background

That’s a good idea

I like the way it looks now that you have made the changes. I like it all one color the substrate. what’s most important then it’s what you like. It’s your tank and it looks great, my friend. 😊

You'll have to keep us updated on how that works out for you long term. I tried something similar in my big boy tank, but they mess with the substraight so much the smaller grain (2mm) gravel swallows up all the bigger gravel and rocks. Maybe with the smaller species of fish tou house in there, that won't be the same situation for you.

I like the way it looks better now Ben now that you’ve made the change. Looks better all one color as far as the substrate. What’s most important is what you like Ben. Your tank. And it looks great my friend 😊

Hello Ben, may I suggest you add a few hillstream loaches to that tank. They are amazing little critters. I just added 3 to mine. They have unique personalities and are fun to watch, as they don't tend to hide much.

I think adding the lighter gravel was a great idea. 😊 I feel like the fish are more visible.

For me Ben I prefer a black substrate 5 of my tanks have black substrate. They are heavily planted forest tanks. Then 2 of my tanks have white sand. My big Cichlid tank has white sand and I have a 10 gallon shrimp and rice fish tank with white sand. But I do prefer the black sand for my smaller fish. Bigger fish I like the white sand

The tank is looking good, Ben. I have always known that snails as Malaysian Trumpet Snails. Maybe it is an old name.

Dark brown was much much better, now the tetras are invisible... Dark substrate is aaaalways a good idea

Certainly some substrates make certain fish look better. Like discus darken up and drop alot of colour on a dark substrate
@BenOchart2 ай бұрын
That's a good point. I've heard the term "peppering" where discus can get dark spots. I'm not sure if that due to decor/substrate, stress, genetics or maybe a combination of all. Some are sold as "no pepper" discus.

👍🤠 I don’t really have a preference. As far seeing better, I think darker was better but not by much. What matters which way you like.

The thing is that most fish look better on a dark substrate and dark background Less washed out. But whiter or light brownish types of sands look more natural in an aquarium. There is no clay based soil or black sand in nature. Its personal preference in the end. I dont believe many fish actual feel less or more safe in a different colour of sand/gravel/soil.

Ben are you using the same stands that the old 55's were on? I was curious to their warranty if not on their stand.
@BenOchart2 ай бұрын
Same stands as before. I'm not sure if I'm risking that warranty. I know that the pads are vital for the warranty to be valid.
