@@Sudstah Don't be so naïve! Racism exists is most large organisations and has been shown to be systemic. While this is more noticeable in the US, the British police force is not exempt! That's something you can look up (and look up 'systemic' while you're there!).

@@godsson7787 It's not that I have an issue with it im mixed race as well, my point is people need to stop defining by colour because to me its a way of them saying they are different from us when we are all the same, and I am fully aware people see you as different whether its racism or just what I call sub prejudice from personal experience, people just need to modernize in this increasingly globalized multi ethnic age.

Ben. I'm going through the IHR appeals process after having been diagnosed with duty related PTSD. Your 'the job that broke me' video was so good in so many ways. There will be so many bobbies going through this process or younger in service that will recognise they need help. You have a natural talent to tell it as it is. I think it would be massively beneficial, if you felt comfortable doing so, to share your experiences of going through the agonising process of recognising you have a problem to going through the ill health retirement process and how it went. I know from personal experience, the hours of counselling and psychiatric assessments and medication tweeks is so hard going. I think if you could share your experience it would help so many bobbies out there either starting out with or going through the process. It may also be beneficial for members of the public to also understand that retiring on the grounds of ill health is not an easy and pleasant process. All the best for what you're doing brother.

Sorry to hear about your situation. Unfortunately, counselling can sometimes re-traumatise you and you can end up in a vortex going over the incident in your mind to reassure yourself you hadn't missed anything and the 'what if' scenarios. Having strategies to deal with incidents and stress may help you to manage your emotions and a good counsellor should help you with this - to feel the emotions and still be able to move on. It's important to be able to reach out when the time comes. Good luck to you!

Very insightful Ben, i applied for the police myself and got accepted but when i went for the interview i had something in my head telling me to not go through with it and i can now see why. Loved all your episodes of police interceptors, it's just a shame they never give you a real idea of what goes on.

Great recollections Ben, keep them up, it's like listening (as a kid) to the stories my relative told and tells. I think normal members of the public will really enjoy your recollections. It's funny you mention Bradfords most notorious criminal, yes he was arrested on a hunch due to his Rover initially running on Skoda number plates which had been stolen from my local Scrap yard, Cooper Bridge Spares between Mirfield and Brighouse. You look a bit more at ease with this interview, so that's good. Have a Happy Easter. Best wishes, look forward to the next one. Ben 🚔🚓🚌🚍😷🇬🇧

Much respect Ben. Those of us who've played for the other team, sort of speak, have a special appreciation for your type of dedication to what they believe in. Although opponents at times, sharing stories with guys living in the same sordid world, understand the terminology, tactics, and each others routines has been a highlight of my freedom days. Hearing your story about what broke you, and the part about trying to become something you're not touched a nerve. That happens on the other side of the fence also. If you don't become someone else to stay alive, you get to fill up a big plastic bag and make room for the next contestant. Wish you the best sir, and hopefully you can achieve enough healing from within to make a difference to you and the family. Pair of 10's
