Hey Wendel any nice 3:2 monitors you recommend ? I've been using it on my laptop and that Aspect Ratio has really grown on me . Looking to buy a panel in that ratio with its similar to 1440p IPS if you know of one or a VA or TN with good color for a monitor with that kind of panel. not looking for 2ms or anything just not so laggy it can be felt and seen visibly to the naked eye without using a specific program designed to bring it out.

I would love it if a monitor would come out with a really substantial mono speaker built-in. Something actually good, nobody needs stereo from the builtin speakers. Buuuut a speaker capable of enough volume to be an integrated center surround speaker. Would be a great touch.

I've got a Spyder 4 Express to give me colour profiles which works well enough. I thought off and on about getting an HDR display, but honestly, things are too confusing and information is lacking. We have HDR10, HRDR10+, Dolby Vision, HLG10... But for computers, everyone seems most worried about DisplayHDR 400, DisplayHDR 500, DisplayHDR 600, DisplayHDR 1000, DisplayHDR 1400, DisplayHDR 400 True Black, DisplayHDR 500 True Black... Then you have monitor manufacturers coming up with their own HDR type labels... And now BenQ throwing in their own stuff... Then me, I don't video edit, but I do photography and I'd rather have a 10-bit or better wide gamet monitor that deals with Adobe RGB - but nope, the industry is demanding P3 for content (video) creation and consumption... Then there's the confusion on how the hell I calibrate it with my Spyder5, and then it seems that I'd have to also manually flip it for the various content everytime (so I need to keep multipule color calibrations or ???)... Honestly, until things get standardized, I'm stcking to sRGB display, and an older 10-bit (non-HDR) wide gamut Adobe RGB photography monitor. Sorry for ranting, but honestly this HDR craze is *REALLY* bugging me.
@nukedathlonman
@nukedathlonman 3 жыл бұрын
@JustVictor 17 Dunno if comments can be bumped on KZbin... LOL I feel bad for Wendell, he did good with the video. And the rant had nothing to do with him or Level1. I've been trying to figure out my next monitor set for my gaming rig for a good while now, and seeing what BenQ is doing just added to my frustrations. :-( HDR is always being talked up, I can't find answers I need for running in a multi-monitor environment, answers on ICC profiles, etc. Then having mixed content types - maybe SDR on one monitor, HDR on another, or having both on the same monitor (think stuff like that can be pulled off in Linux, got a feeling not so much in Windoze), does the monitor need a color space clamp for working in sRGB modes, etc. It's frustrating, and I don't want extra complications in trying to see things on my screens the way things where intended to be seen.

I have an HDR monitor. I turn it off because you can't screenshot or stream games without applying some sort of filter to de-overexpose the image in SDR. The problem stems from having used 10-bit video to encode the luminance information along with the standard 8-bit color space. 10-bit was already a standard for a wider color space than 8-bit, and standard PC graphics and drivers still want to use those two extra bits for more color samples in SDR mode. Effectively HDR is usurping an existing standard that is used typically only in the professional space, and turning it into something else completely for the consumer space. Meanwhile PCs don't know what the fuck to do with it unless you can force the OS itself to enter an HDR mode. Image capture needs to be made HDR compatible before I'll ever consider using it again.

@Unsensitive
@Unsensitive 3 жыл бұрын
@@StaySic4Ever that's not primarily response time though, but motion blur. #1 issue has been input lag, created by cheap equipment and over processing, then trying to improve response time by overdriving. Crappy overdrive, overshoot, low refresh rates.. you end up with image blur, jitter, etc. Not saying this monitor solves all those, without first hand viewing, but if the response times are low, and the blur reduced, then I'm optimistic, and would at least be an improvement..

Finally BENQ XR. But I do not understand why you would willingly review the IPS Version of their products. Just amateurish L1. Their VA Selection is like an budget oled option its that good. Even the Old BL3200PT had a contrast of 3000:1 after calibration (actual static constract, no bullshit, no pwm, no nothing) and covered all the good ranges in a 99.8% ish way. Stands is premium CAD. 400 bucks, 300 used 5 years ago, still better than any IPS. GET WITH THE TIMES.
