I wouldn't say the industry has been settling in on 16:9 or 16:10, it settled in on 16:10 in the 00s as a replacement for 4:3/5:4 but then switched to 16:9 and practically killed off 16:10 for parity with TVs. The recent revival of 16:10 has mostly come about due to diehards preferring them for productivity leading to demand (just like the mechanical keyboard revival).

Correction: You comment that a tighter curve made you turn your head less. However, a tighter curve will make you turn your head MORE, since the screen curving toward you will put that 'length' of screen farther to your side. Think of the difference between a triangle, and a 'pie' slice of a circle. A straight side and a curved side of the same length will make a different opposite angle.

@Prophes0r Жыл бұрын
@@Zombie101 Whether or not you think you do something, or find something more comfortable, doesn't change the basic geometry of the situation. More curve = larger angle. Any angle above what your eye movement alone can accommodate will REQUIRE you to move your head to bring it into your primary focus. Note: I'm not arguing about the resulting angle of incidence for anything displayed on the edges. This is the primary REASON for using a curved display. Low/no angle of incidence is usually desirable. But the statement in the video is provably false, especially in the conditions shown/described.

I have a 49" Dell Ultrasharp. It's equivalent to two 15" 4K screens side by side, but no border between. It has a slight curve. Productivity-wise, it's amazing, allowing me to have a work screen (virtual desktop) up at full-HD resolution and still have 2/3 of the screen available for doing personal stuff... like posting here. I really think folks are better off with high-end 4k tv's at this point for the same price of ultrawide 'gaming monitors' where the hz is lost of the majority of folks. A 42" 4k hdr screen is the sweet spot, with 120hz available for half the cost of the alienware oled ultrawide on 2022 TVs.

I would recommend the Alienware 38" ultrawide for this. I use it for that scenario -- gives me the equivalent of two 1920x1600 screens side by side with no bezel, or a really nice ultrawide for gaming. I forget which brand, but one offers a 40" that's similar to this, but ups the resolution; so instead of the equivalent of two 1920px wide screens side by side, you get two 2560px wide screens. I think the horizontal width is increased over the 1600px of the Alienware as well. Would be harder to drive for gaming though!
