BenQ has launched its new W2700 and W5700 4K DLP projectors in the UK and Europe. In the USA, these projectors are marketed as the BenQ HT3550 & HT5550 respectively.
Key features include new Texas Instrument 0.47" DMD chip that eliminates the grey borders, RGBRGB colour wheel with high quality control, factory calibration to D65 white point with report supplied, at least 95% DCI-P3 colour gamut coverage, dynamic iris, HDR support for both HDR10 & HLG, as well as motion-compensated frame interpolation.
Both projectors are slated to become available towards the end of March/ early April. The BenQ W2700 will retail for around €1600, while the step-up W5700 will be €1000 more expensive at €2600.

Spinning color wheels come apart at random ,i had one DLP projector do this to me ,just when it got out of warranty .LCD projectors will give you more peace of mind .With the same picture quality for 99 percent of users ,,Did you notice the little bit of talk on the importance of color wheel ,and they actually showed the part from the projector.This ht 3550 is a very good projector for the money with hi end specs and great 4k picture resolution ..and for gamers ......pull the trigger and get as much extended warranty..as you can. Very good review video, even with your friends

Having a problem with 3D. Have tried 1 Sharp, LG, and XBox One Bluiray player. Same problem with all. Screen has either a red or magenta tint when playing 3D movie. If I go into the settings of the players and set output to RGB instead of the default, which works on 3D TV, the color tint is gone but the projector switches to 2D mode and 3D can not be enabled. I have w2700 for a week now watched about 15hrs. Still, have grey borders unless you turn down the brightness. fan noise is a loud, 40-50dB. Colours and 4K look great - no complaints, speakers are crap - don't bother, menu switching is slow, laggy and buggy - sometimes it won't refresh the image. The rainbow effect is very noticeabe - especially in the white sections of the screen. overall it is a great project for the price, hopefully, with updates, it can fix my gripes.

Thanks for the update. I have the W1700 and was thinking of updating as the W2700 throw distance is the same as my previous W1070 hence a simple replacement. The light border is annoying TBH as the W1070 had practically none. Possibly the W3700 will eliminate it completely. Cheers

@@hayuwannalove Hi, Vincent just left and I must say that he raped my TV. Dark Knight looks like in cinema. Skin tones, gamma and colours looks phenomenal and what was most important for me natural. And we are talking about mid range Sony KD-49XE9005. What is even more impressive interpolation in NVidia Custom Resolution settings just gone. My TV has 120Hz panel and you can set custom 120Hz 1080p resolution or ultra wide 3840x1600 60Hz but massive interpolation ruined picture quality. But after calibration in TV's Game Mode interpolation is almost gone and in Cinema Pro mode gone completely. I am playing Resident Evil 2 Remake with HDR on, 1080p 120Hz in Cinema Pro Mode!!! No interpolation, 120 FPS and somehow input lag is not noticeable. I am really happy with results. PS Every manufacturer have different settings and every panel is different. You can't just copy and paste my settings to your TV and expect to see improvement. It could actually make picture even worse. Unfortunately it must be done for each TV manually and separate. Otherwise you could just download settings from internet and apply for your TV but no one is doing so far.

I have been dying to upgrade my BenQ ht1085st. But they haven't put out another good short throw with 3d. Is there a technical reason why they have abandoned short throw projectors? I thought that was the best advancement at one time because I no longer had guests playing "shadow puppets" on my screen. Also the projector being closer to the screen gives a brighter image. In a living room it's optimum.

Couple of points why factory calibration is pretty useless: -what kind of screen are they using? What kind of gain? -whats the screen size they are using? -what is the environment like? completely light optimised room? All these variables differ significantly from user to user and thus there is not a single calibration which fits them all. Kudos on the all glas lenses!
@GamerWordDotNet

Factory calibration is applied based on the screen type. Screen size isn't relevant to calibration AFAIK. Good point about the light optimized room but one could assume it's optimized to whatever serves the best for both situations (low light or bright).
