I've used my Behringer 1820 for 6 years now, I use it daily, so I think this demonstrates the build is very good. The only negative is the headphone output is a bit noisy. The inputs are very clean, so your results are not affected by this.

phantom power won't hurt like 99% of things , especially on combo jacks like on the behringer. not really an issue as long as you don't connect a ribbon mic or something

Do you know how to get a signal out of any of the ¼" outputs on the back (3 - 10)? I have tried everything and zip. It would be nice to dedicate an input, for example input 5, to come out of output 5 for a separate monitor. Those outputs are supposedly controlled through the DAW. If you open up the driver window, Advanced, Configure, Volume there are two slider panels - one for Inputs and one for Outputs. No matter how I adjust them - no sound at outputs 3 through 8.

Running this with the Ada8200 and its rock stable, has really low latency and sounds great. Not sure about the build quality but considering the only parts that are prone to break are the pots that i barely use my guess it will last for decades. Only downside is no 192khz but honestly i don't need it.

I got one today but i found it sounded completely different (sounded worse) to my focusrite scarlet solo while listening to Spotify and KZbin through my Adam audio 7" monitors. All the bass seemed to have left and it was significantly brighter in the higher frequencies.. i would like to know if this is something you or anyone else may also have noticed or if Spotify sounds the same between interfaces for you. I'd expect an audio interface to spit out the audio it receives from Spotify or KZbin without colouring it in any way but for me this doesn't seem to be the case :/ hopefully there is a fix for this or maybe I've just gotten a lemon

I like the rack mount feature but the umc404hd has inserts and that made running through compressor/gate and eq for each channel very convenient. It would be nice to see behringer refresh the 1820 with inserts for those of us who are using hardware to mix the sound rather than software.

Does the umc1820 output up to 10 independent tracks from your software or just 5 stereo pairs of the same master output. My current soundcard outputs 8 tracks which go to my desk where I mix down to cd. Wondering if I can do the same with this interface

Hi! Did you get an answer to this elsewhere? I’m looking for the same answer. We monitor through separate outputs for our podcast and looking into if it can be modified or selected through ableton to output specific tracks. Would love to hear from you if so :) thanks in advance!

@@chunky.t didn't find an answer so I just bought one and hoped for the best. Yes, it outputs 10 separate tracks from your software... So, for example, I output drums as a stereo channel, bass, guitars, keys as stereo and another stereo fx channel from cubase to my mixer where I can mix all 10 channels

Hi ben! Love the review! Could you tell me if the outputs are customisable through ableton? Looking to upgrade my interface for our podcast show. But we currently use an old interface with several outputs that can be selected in ableton to allow us all to have individual monitoring through headphones etc. Is that something that can be done with this device? Look forward to hearing from you! :)

Are the two headphone outputs on their own outputs like the Scarlett 18i20 (outputs 6/7 & 8/9) or are they tied to 3/4 only? Asking because I want to configure 2 individual headphone mixes and I can't find the answer to this anywhere!
@aretoocrazy
@aretoocrazy 4 жыл бұрын
Jimmy, I would assume you found your answer, since it has been two weeks, but here it is. for the UMC1820 the headphones are independent of each other, but they monitor outputs 1/2 or 3/4. There is a button for each pair. If you go to 8:27 in the video and look toward the headphone jacks you will see, the headphone jacks above the jacks are the volume and to the left of the volume is the selector button. So each phones jack can listen to either 1/2 or 3/4 independently. I have had mine for almost a year and I love it. The headphones have a lot of gain. I like that all 8 inputs have inst/line switching many only have line for inputs 1 and 2. I added a Behringer Pro-8 to give me the extra 8 inputs and it works great.

Hi guys! Just doing some research into this device. Wondering if you could help? Looking for an upgrade for my interface for our podcast show, we currently use a device that lets you customise what is being outputted. So in ableton you can route say, input 1 & 5 to say, output 4. Is this something the device allows you to do? Or are all the outputs simply a master channel? If you can let me know that would be great, thanks in advance! :)

Slight Problem when using this interface to send things digitally to hardware inserts in Pro Tools as there are 10 analogue outputs but only 8 analogue inputs which means the SPDIF inputs are channels 9 & 10 but the SPDIF outputs are 11 and 12. This is a problem when using it with digitally connected hardware inserts in Pro Tools as Pro Tools can only cope with inserts being connected to the same numbered ins and outs e.g. if your using O/P 9 & 10 to send to your hardware unit the return must come back on 9 & 10 and if your using SPDIF then it doesn’t.

Anyone know if it’s possible to add a 3rd interface using the expansion or does it top out at 2? If not, what would I have to do to get 3 of these running smoothly? I’ve messed with creating Aggregate Devices in my mac before and while it works, I’d rather not have to do that and do as much of it “analog” as possible.

I just got my 1820 today. I only got to setup it up briefly. Looking into it more in depth when I arrive at home again. However, from the brief testing I did, the quality is amazing! I currently run the interface as a multi channel interface for ableton and all of my mics and gear get powered and pass through my Berhinger mixer. But to say the least, I was able to boost the Midas preamp so high and get such a clear signal to ableton without getting a crazy amount of noise or clipping. For anyone else wondering, if you’re looking to use this interface with asio drivers for live performing or twitch streaming for all your music and stuff with extreme low latency, this interface works amazing with those drivers and not to mention come with the asio drivers which you can find on the Berhinger download page! Would highly recommend!
