Ronnie Mathews, piano. Ray Drummond, bass. Kenny Washington, drums. He may have been living in Paris, but he knew who to get in NYC. Dang.

Kenny Washington, perfect sideman , musician, drummer , keeps the ride constantly flowing at very high tempo while comping left on snare and with his bass. Master of his art as also the sax/drums solo's show and so humble but not in his expression. Thanks sharing. Whole quartet and performance is a gem.

OMG! Oh My Guinness!! One More Guinness!!! I had to repeat the 1st tune “Blues For Gonzi” 3 times on end. This super hard bop performance is quite like martial arts, with Bruce Lee’s speed, fluidity, power and control. Scary! I should have taken some tranquilizer before listening to this.

The little giant! Fastest gun in town. Love the video, especially the close ups of Johnny. And yeah he's got the right sidemen for the gig. Can't go wrong with those cats. There was no tune you could call that Ray didn't know. They used to make a game out of it at Bradley's.

The GREATEST tenor saxophonist of All Time, IMHO. ALWAYS kickin' ass, for decades. But he didn't have a cult following, like Coltrane. To me, he was a much more exciting tenor man than Trane or Sonny. Just check him out here for proof! RIP, Johnny!
