Good review. Short of Grand Seiko, the Oceanus line is as good as gets from Japan. Overall, they offer fantastic value. I think you would like the Oceanus S100 over the T150 (I have both). It is a more elegant looking piece. The T200 series is a no go for me due to stainless steel.

Followed on WC. I just polished my 10-year old Seiko Titanium (SNAB89P1), and it's completely different now. I'm not sure if I've ruined it. It was a dull matte finish before, now a satin, almost gloss shine. I don't hate it though. Shine just needs to calm down a bit, and it will. It had to be coated in some way?

Casio's second hand alignment has always been spot on in my experience. I have owned a few Edifices in the past and currently have an Edifice which cost me around $200 and it's second hand alignment is spot on. Puts my super titanium Citizen diver to shame which retails for over twice the price of the Edifice.

It's funny. The quality control on my Citizens has always been exemplary. I'm in the US. I know Citizens are popular all over the world. I wonder if models targeted for different markets are assembled at different locations and there is variability in quality standard. That would be a shame, but we live in an imperfect reality, so 🤷🏼♂️
@jojogpt2 жыл бұрын
@@jaex9617 That's good for you. In my experience, only one out of three Citizens I've owned had perfect second hand alignment. The Titanium Promaster Diver I have has been reviewed by Teddy Baldassarre and he also mentions the second hand alignment issue in his review of the watch. Might be a case of bad luck for me.

@@jojogpt Maybe? I wouldn't be at all surprised if different manufacturing facilities serving different geos have variability in QC execution or even standards. I have a Citizen Promaster titanium GMT diver and cannot fault it in any way at all. Similarly the NY0080, the Seiko SKX killer. I could say the same for most of my Casios but not for Seiko.

@@markgrieves1307 I own four Seikos and they are perfectly aligned. I don't own a Seiko diver. Two Premiers, one Seiko 5 and one perpetual chronograph quartz. World time, alarms, perpetual calendar, stopwatch -- everything. And it's solar. Loads of lume and a LED for night. 100m water resistance. And it's the most accurate quartz I have. It is everything a modern traditional watch should be -- with MODERN, useful, electronic complications, no need for servicing, no batteries or USB charging. Damn near perfect watch. And gorgious. And priced properly at $170 US. If we were being logical we'd acknowledge that solar + quartz + integrated circuits is how watches should be made in 2022. Not with gear trains like 1896. Surprised you didn't mention the connection to Grand Seiko. Oceanus cases are made by the same factory (owned by Seiko) that makes GS, high end Seiko, Casio MR-G, and Minase cases. The Oceanus case is zaratsu polished, which is astonishing at the price. I have a T200 and could only see very minor difference in case finishing compared to my GS Snowflake under high magnification. To the naked eye, there is no difference. I think the T200 would have been the better choice to show off the case finishing. The brushed bezel and sharp angles are very striking, and really makes the hairline transition between brushed & polished surfaces pop. The dial finishing is mediocre, but since the case is the star of the show, I think the T200 would have been a better example of the value, especially considering a zaratsu repolish for a GS is twice the cost of the entire Oceanus.

Casio has many Luxury or Premium Casios. Just look at the G-Shocks there you got the „Iron Man“ for 1500. the GMW 5000 is generally made in Japan and extremely well made for 500 bucks. Casio knows how to make that stuff

Yeah I don't get why the MRG range is not mentioned.

Hi Ben can you do a review on the watches made by lord time pieces
@jasongultjaeff93972 жыл бұрын
About the nicest looking Casio I've seen. I'm surprised they don't release them everywhere in the world. I guess too much competition from Seiko and Citizen in that price bracket? Even entry level Swiss Quartz (Tissot). Looks nice, but a lot of watches look better once you are in that price bracket.

It's definitely beautiful but I'm not sure about the oceanus name. Probably wouldn't pay all that for this either. Appreciate that it perfectly hits its markers which my Tissot prx fails to.

I don't blame you, the word anus in the model name isn't the best of names is it.

Actually, I have a $100 Casio Edifice sports watch that has incredible quality and detailing. The only thing is is has a glass crystal, not sapphire. Oh yes, and its quartz, which is ok, but I'd prefer either quartz solar or automatic (and pay $200-250) But to be honest, it looks better than this watch!

Dear Ben, are you biased against Casio G-Shock? It's simply the affordable digital watch holy grail. My wrist is 6,5 inch and wears great you should at least give it a try, they are very affordable
