Bentgrass Golf Green Is Thick at Day 7!! // First Liquid Fert Application

Can't believe how much my backyard golf green is starting to grow. The bentgrass has really even coverage across the whole green.
Also did a topdress and oversow today to thicken up the perennial ryegrass

Loving the content mate. This is the coolest grass project I've seen on KZbin and it makes me so envious. Have you locked in where you are going to position your tee boxes? That location you filmed when talking fert, gives another interesting angle to the green.

You could experiment on one tee with one of the newer ultra dwarfed zoysia grasses. Stays green during the winter, great for tee to green use also and it has extremely quick repair time. It would be interesting to see and you could teach everyone how spirgging is done, or buy sod but sprigs is far cheaper. It's just a idea. Check them out, they're called, Lazer, Primeo, Prizm and Trinity cultivars.

I laid about 150sqm of Sir Grange. I disagree with a quick repair time. I had landscapers doing renovations for about a month and they destroyed my lawn. Most of it has come back but some patches are taking forever! You might be referring to a different zoysia here but sir grange does take its time.

Love these videos. Watched back on some of your videos on pre-emergents. I’ve been trying to revive the buffalo at the lower end of my lawn. Poor clay soil. I’ve been working on improving the soil structure and some parts are really starting to grow in well. Still have a few bald spots. Would you recommend still using the pre-emergent in this case? Not sure if my roots are deep enough yet to cope.

It's also extremely fast with green up on bentgrass. It's always been like that, once you start seeing green it doesn't take long, 5 to 7 days and it's a massive difference around the week mark to 10 days you want to fix any trouble areas like irrigayion washout or rain damage and roll the greens, it can be done with a greenmower but do not turn on the grass it will rip the shizz out of it. Around day 14 to 21 you usually mow if it's reached pass .750 height that is always critical when growing a green in, this can always vary depending on amount of sun, cultivar or the experience of the person growing the green.

You have really good coverage because the green is really flat, only sloped from right to left. If you have huge humps, bumps and slopes coverage would be far worse in those areas. Good work all the same.

You should of used tenacity...it's safe for seed so you can still use it and it's a pre emergent on top of post emergent. Of course never use that on bentgrass unless you want to kill it

You can't use to much nitrogen...these newer cultivars regular very little nitrogen per year, of course right now you can use more during grow in. If you use a lot of nitrogen the green will be far slower because the grass will grow during the day.

Would have to be a lot of water to push it to leach into the dam. Remember we have 300mm of sand. 100mm of gravel. Then ag drain below that at another 100mm. The black barrier will also prevent leaching out the sides. Water is going to be used with the tanks sometimes though haha
