This. It blows my mind. Incredibly uniquely beautiful. I love the middle eastern quarter tone vibe, but with the harmonies of 22edo rather than 24edo.

Thanks man! Yeah, I agree. 22edo has a lot of oriental potential, there are some interesting intervals that are close to actual traditional middle eastern intervals, but not quite, so it has a different flavor.

22 blows 24 out of the water in terms of usefulness per number of notes.

after reading the name of the song, I can see the whole scene! Pretty introspective music with a pretty psychedelic touch, I love it :)

This is so soo sooooo good, can you share which scale you used? :)

Thank you Luka! Glad you resonate with it. I haven't been working a lot with 22-edo after this initial phase so my knowledge of the intervals, scales and everything related kind of slipped away. It would take quite some time to re-analyze it. I did open up this project and rendered the midi of all the instrumentation (except vocals), so I could mail that to you? Then you can just have a look around to see what is happening melodically/harmonically. If interested email me (see description), and I'll send it over!

This is amazing! It's definitely one of my favorites, along with "The Scale of 'Nar"! I really love the lyric style, written more as prose than rhyme. And the way they're sung is amazing as well! Can I ask what the inspiration for them was? Regardless, this is an amazing work of art, and definitely one of my top favorite microtonal songs!

Thank you! Makes me really happy that you're digging it. Well, when I start sketching out something new, it can sometimes really trigger a rapid process where I get all sorts of ideas, visualizations and emotional contexts in my mind. I often think theme based, I love cinematic thoughts and I'm pretty much a dreamer so I guess those are the elements where I draw the ideas from. In the case of this track, I had some chords and they sort of quarter-note shifted here and there and that gave such an alien vibe. So I just in my mind played with the idea that there is a lost world where there is a protective bird that the people worship. And this is all just a metaphor, because the spirit bird can be anything to the listener. I sometimes like to keep lyrics simple and abstract so that it has an easy touch. Good question!
