if just started nursing school like I did 10 years ago.. going back in time if I could i would definitely ace this part of the exam. benzos have ruined my life for so many years after a doctor got me started on them during my third year before I transfered to accounting and alcohol is doing to the same to my mom. my mom alcoholism drives me to keep taking meds so it's hard to get off.. I don't know what to do anymore but it's horrible..

Hi I have been on Benzos for a long period of time & the same dose still works . I have NEVER abused them or Increased my dose. The same dose still works after years of taking them.. Benzos have improved my emotional and mental well being.. I have read all the information I have been given on benozs. Now because of my age the "doctors" want to make me quit.!!!

My doctor prescribed Ativan for me for 10 years. I hit tolerance and she kept increasing the dosage until i hit 2 mg. She told me nothing about how dangerous benzodiazepines are. I cold turkeyed and it was hell on earth. I experienced shaking, tachycardia, akathisia, weight loss, agoraphobia histamine issues to where I can only eat 5 foods. I'm 5 years off and still sick. Why is this drug still prescribed? So many people are experiencing hell on earth because of benzos, it's tragic.

Was on a benzo for 22 years. One day the doctor said we don't do that anymore. There was no problem stopping. Idk why they claim they are addictive. Another dr. told me they don't use because they cause kidney problems. My kidneys are fine. Meanwhile, I have been suffering from anxiety and panic attacks ever since they took me off the benzos. Finally, I was told by one dr. they don't want you on benzos because of all the opiate addicts. Opiates and benzos can be deadly. Well, I'm sorry. The doctors are wrong. Some of us need the benzos. It's been years, but I finally found a doctor who will prescribe them. My life is getting back to normal. I wish the doctors never messed with what I was taking for years. All these people prescribing anti depressants for anti anxiety meds have never really experienced severe anxiety. If they did, believe be benzos would be a sacrament.

My main question is when you take a urine test for work are they looking just for benzos in general or specific benzodiazepines
@elizabethcohen9476 Жыл бұрын
What do you do if you are taking benzos and opiates and need to get off of them? You would have to taper off both and one can’t be prescribed with the other so wouldn’t you be stuck going off cold turkey for one of them. I am in school learning how to treat people addicted to these drugs by prescription over long periods of time.
@shyaaammeneen63 Жыл бұрын
Elizabeth, Frankly Benzos are addictive with severe withrawal symptoms and must be tapered off gradually over a period of 1 month but under medical guidance. SSRI's act differently and are not habit forming. Just for information --- To reduce overthinking negative thoughts an individual must do the below given simple practice daily anywhere-anytime as often as you can--day and night with eyes open or closed. Be careful what you feed your mind. If you feed trash -trash will come out. Avoid comparing yourself with others, avoid storing bottled up emotions, reduce watching negative social media--fake news channels and avoid constipation as it affects the mind. Your breathing is closely related to the brain [mind] and gives relief from stress anxiety and overthinking. For a relaxed mind observe the sensations of your incoming--outgoing breath at the entrance of the nostrils and within the nostrils for 5-10-15 minutes or more. You can sit straight on a chair or lay down anywhere, eyes closed but avoid deep breathing. If distracted bring focus back on the breath. Make it a lifetime habit to observe your breath before sleep, when travelling, when reading, when walking, at the workplace etc, Best wishes--Counsellor.

What happens if this drug is interacted with alcohol?
@cassieh55063 жыл бұрын
Good question. Alcohol is a depressant like benzos are. I have heard doctors say you shouldn't mix the two though. Or if you do that you should only have a limited number of drinks. Common side effects are impaired motor skills and coordination. Seems like both drugs together would slow down the CNS way too much. At best it would probably make you too sleepy. But at worse it would slow down your heart rate to dangerously low levels. It's hard to say. It really depends on the individual, the type of benzos, and the amount of alcohol.
