Anyone who follows this video, should also remove the "rotten foam" decomposing inside the speaker. it is conducting while decomposing and once gets contact with the PCB's will etch away their copper and cause malfunction. Very important! Also the Electrolytic capacitors on the PCB's need replacement. They have dried out and do no longer have their original values = distorted sound. Also, some trimmers are not good, and need replacement. Once all this is done = job done!

Great video. I've done a few refoaming of speakers recently you did one thing wrong and that must have left alot of glue residue. The way i do it I put glue on upper side and lower side of surround then straight onto speaker and done. You put on one side then brush glue on other side whilst one side was glued down which left alot of glue this was wrong. My way you have to do it quickly before glue dries but no glue residue also i use less glue. This is just better for cosmetic appearence. Great job.

I am new to bang & Olufsen and bought these 6000 speakers and when I play a song with a lot of bass the one speaker crackles hisses and you can hear the vibration do I need this rubber seal repair or could it be something else as I am not sure I could tackle something like this. Although I am good with my hands etc do a lot of crafts jus scared of damaging something or not being able to put back reconnect.

I used glue from www.goodhifi.com. It is dedicated for these kind of repair. If you put it on it is milky but it dries colorless transparant.

Did you remove the old surround material from the underside of the cone before gluing the new surround to the underside of the cone??

Thanks for the great instructional! Did you reuse the gaskets or install new ones? If you didn't use any, are the surrounds holding up? Gotta say salvaging the gaskets was a huge pain. If the speakers preform well over time without them I'm thinking of skipping them when replacing the surrounds on my 8000's. Thanks again ;)

Thank you for the advice! I have done some refoaming in the past and am now working on my Beolab 6000: My question: There's a cardbord ring that holds the surrounds in place on the frame. On other speakers, I'd carefully remove it and put it back in place after replacing the surrounds. With the Beos, I don't think I'll be able to take them out without destroying them. It seems you just removed the rings without replacing them after the surrounds were mounted. Is that right? I'll try it that way too, if it worked for you.

Kai, I removed the gaskets on my BL 6000's by carefully working a thin xacto blade with a narrow profile around the surround. Start on the sides, there is no lip to deal with. Carefully work these areas free 1st. Angle the blade slightly toward the plastic body of the speaker. Take care not to use too severe an angle or the blade will bite into the plastic. I worked the areas at the top and bottom where a lip is located by working with the blade facing toward the lip, wiggling it 40 deg from either side of the lip, meeting in the middle. Don't rush. I spent a good 5 min on each gasket.

Hello, Happy New Year 2016! Greetings from Canada :) Very interesting and helpful video. I was very happy to see someone do this. Can you please tell me where did you buy replacement foam, glue etc that you needed for repair? How is sound quality after replacement? From online forums I heard mixed reviews. Most of them they said sound is not so great anymore. How is your feedback? Did you have to calibrate them? I have same problem now with my woofers foam is cracked hairline as well. How much was total cost for your experience and what was the best source for spare parts? B&O store wants $500+ for replacement new speakers and they said that they have to calibrate them as well. +LeskoSpeedway The original quality returned as far as I am able to just that. I don't think there will be a sound difference between foaming on top or underneath the cone. Roaming on top is a lot easier. The B&O was original refoamed underneath. Next time I would put the foam on top of the cone and not underneath the cone.
