lyrics:
How many more years, have I got to let you dog me around
How many more years, have I got to let you dog me around
I'd soon rather be dead, sleeping six feet in the ground
I'm gonna fall on my knees, I'm gonna raise up my right hand
I'm gonna fall on my knees, I'm gonna raise up my right hand
Say I'd feel much better darling, if you'd just only understand
I'm going upstairs, I'm gonna bring back down my clothes
I'm going upstairs, I'm gonna bring back down my clothes, do them all
If anybody ask about me, just tell'em I walked out on

What a pinko, I mean, implying that being poor, hungry, and legally regarded as 3/5's of a human being could possibly make you do "evil" things to survive. Also, might it be true that there's such a wealth of understanding, compassion, and survivor's anger in the raw beauty of Wolf's voice that it scares the crap out of politicians?

@@swampgravy1776 this proves youve never experienced adversity. you think about "evil" because you are pushed over the edge and start lashing out, everyone and everything becomes an obstacle, you dont care what you have to do to change your situation, what ever kind of cruelty. those kinds of moralistic ideals doesnt matter anymore, because they are a privelege to care about, and you dont have the privelege to consider them anymore. its primal, desperate, survival instinct. thats what white people dont understand when they moralized "gang violence" in inner cities

Perhaps I´m wrong, but it seems to me that later generations have forgotten all about the legacy of African American blues musicians and their phenomenal music. The song writing and the performance talents are astounding. It is a genre that we are losing as a nation and culture. Performers like Wolf, Muddy, Sonny Boy, Hooker, Magic Sam, Jimmy Reed and many others. Every generation develops or chooses its own art forms, I recognize that, but it is a shame that it is done in a way that relegates this music to the forgotten file. Wolf is my favorite of all of them. If you have not listened to "The London Howlin Wolf Session", I would suggest you give it a try.

It’s certainly concerning, but I was born in generation Z and worship the Wolf, and the most beautiful part is I’m not the only one. My buddies and I put on Howlin Wolf records and dig up old Blind Willie McTell far more often than Zeppelin or anything post 1995. Music is still good, no matter where you are there’s always somebody making beautiful noise, but I pray that we’ll never forget about these titans who paved the way for so much that followed them.

This is such an incredible live performance. The entire ensemble plays loosely, and swings, just shuffling along, an almost casual shuffling into each note or phrase, but never sounding sloppy, It's as though the loose interpretive style of the solo acoustic players; just themselves and a guitar, John Lee Hooker, Bukka White, Son House, has been worked into the playing of this larger group. It's as though each member of Howlin' Wolf's band has separately absorbed this loose acoustic solo artist style, and then when they play together, they play the same way in this group format, but certainly listen to each other. The result is this loose, shuffling along instrumental accompanyment that swings. Not to ignore Howlin' Wolf - I don't think he ever cut a bad record. His voice is blues, ringing with deep emotional soul - can't explain it, you just feel it in your bones. You all know what I mean. Hail to the Wolf!!

I grew up listening to my parents' Spanish love songs. Ripe old age of 14, I was parking cars at a Latin night club called the P.A. Pan American Night Club in Houston. I asked this youngster if he wanted a Papa Burger. He said Fletcher's Diner had the best burgers! Went to their jukebox had nothing but the Blues. Robert Johnson's Sweet Home Chicago. My feet were keeping with the beat and I asked what is this?? It's the Blues. Last year my wife and I got San Antonio for our 16th anniversary. We go to Hotel Sheraton Gunther and stayed in Room 414. Robert Johnson recorded that song in that Suite in 1935. Watch Crossroads. Man the history I enjoyed these last 71 years

OMG! He was the real OG! What a bad man! When you got the Blues you’re thinking evil! Damn straight! I should’ve quit you Baby! A long time ago! I should’ve quit you. That the basis of every Zep blues song right there. They took it all from the Wolf! Then Howlin Wolf lays down the meanest Harmonica you ever heard and with feeling so it cuts through to your soul! God, he was great! RIP Howlin Wolf

He does a slight bend by arching his tongue, then oscillates his tongue back and forth. It took a long time for me to learn how to do it.

Wolf is a force, this is electrified Delta Blues, the roots of R&R, buy his greatest hits Cd, watch him live doing Meet Me in The bottom, Bring Me my runnin" Shoes" live at Newport. This song is in the key of E, there are no chord changes, just the drone.

A lot of people wonder what is the Blues? A lot of people howling the Blues, the Blues, the Blues. But I'll tell you what the Blues is: When you ain’t got no money- you’ve got the Blues. When you ain’t got no money to pay your house rent, you’ve still got the Blues. A lot of people howling “I don’t like no Blues”, but when you ain’t got no money, and you can’t pay your house rent, and can’t buy no food, you damn sure got the Blues!”
