Fun fact: In the novel it's explained that Vecta literally can't die, his health points were never designed to reach zero, effectively making him immortal. However, Bercouli wields the time splitting sword Uragiri, whose special ability is to slash your past, causing an instant death regardless of how strong you are. Bercouli was the only one capable of killing Vecta.

Ausna could split the earth under him, then when he fell, slam it back together. Can't do much when you are stuck deep beneath the earth. Even his strength wouldn't be even close to enough to break free. And that way he wouldn't log out and switch to his ggo account. Edit: Leafa's Terria acount could also provide a solution(kinda). Unlimited regeneration vs infinite health. Neither dies, and the fight lasts forever, until an alternate solution is found, or someone goes insane from pain and exhaustion.

Still not blown up in views. On a side note the child of Fanatio and Bercouli could potentially wield The Time Piercing Sword. As long as he/she has a strong connection to it. In the LN I thought it was broken, but in the anime it is not.

In the anime, its actually broken. In LN, we see the Time Piercing Sword break, but in the anime, they skipped over that part. If we closely look at Bercouli while he was sitting down after Alice woke up (in the anime after the battle with Vecta), the Sword isn't sheathed nor is it anywhere scattered on the ground. The sword in the LN broke right after Vecta was defeated, but the anime likely skipped that since it might ruin the moment of sadness the viewers need to take in: Bercouli is dead.

Bercouli‘s theme, just as Alice‘s (She was sitting under the Osmamthus Tree) resembles his life - In Bercouli‘s case, more so his life as an Integrity Knight. His theme is divided into two parts. 0:00 - 0:13 | The intro sequence - It starts off strong, voluminous, overpowering.. very much like Gabriel described the taste of Bercouli‘s soul while they battled, proving Bercouli’s undeniable and natural strength. 0:13 - 01:33 | This part, in my mind, resembles his life as Integrity Knight Bercouli Synthesis One - A kind of dull life, his only purpose is that of an unbreakable warrior, a puppet, summoned by the pontifex from the heaven realm. He is being controlled, suppressed.. There is more to life, more to this experience of existing in this world.. But what? 1:33 - 3:02 | He knows it, now, finally, he knows what he needs to do. He needs to protect Alice, no, save her from this demonic god, who has kidnapped the young Integrity Knight. But Alice is not just an Integrity Knight, nor is she just the „Priestess Of Light“ - No, she is his daughter. And he will do anything to protect her, even if that means giving his life so her‘s can continue. It seems as though this was the first time he truly fought with all his might, with all his heart behind his blade, with all his willpower to carry on. Even after all the injuries, all the pain, all the suffering.. After all that, he found the strength to defeat his most challenging and powerful foe, the dark god Vecta in person. It shouldn’t be possible, it was not meant to be that Vecta‘s health points could reach zero, and yet, Bercouli did it. In german, the word „Incarnation“ is translated to „Herzenswille“, which can be translated to „Will of the Heart“. It‘s funny, because in this small analysis, the german translation provides a way deeper meaning to the battle, and why exactly Bercouli was able to defeat Vecta. He defeated him not because he was stronger physically, or more skilled. He was able to kill Vecta, because he fought out of love, not hatred. He fought because the will of his heart was to protect his daughter. And that was stronger than Vecta‘s soulless void.

In terms of characters that don’t just get a super god mode out of nowhere he was truly the only hero that worked his ass off to where he was able to perfect that sword to the point where only he and only he would be able to defeat the dark lord, no one not even Asuna would’ve been able to defeat him. Bercouli was an amazing character. He could even cut through the hardest armor ever - the plot armor. Shame that they decided to give Gabriel stupid OP powers which his GGO account really shouldnt have. But to be honest, even though SAO manages to get some things right, they often pull plot points right from their ass, they have a long history of doing just that.

It really wasn't plot armor it was established throughout the entire series, and actually is acknowledged in aliceization directly. Remember what Kirito said when they were discussing how to become powerful in that world? It was believing in Themselves and their cause. That is the essence of his power, The power doesn't actually come from the account it comes from the user. He had the powers he had as the ggo char as vecta as well, the difference is he had to rely on it. So he pretty much went with the secondary option of just abusing his self worth and willpower to have ultra powerful reincarnation abilities.
