My only problem is that this ability can only be done within the game's system, since by messing with the past would cause damage to the real world. In most settings, this can only possibly occur in the system, where the causality is not real, allowing it to be bendable without creating a paradox.

But this season felt like an entirely different anime. From the story, to the fights, to the illustrations and animation. Wow, they were absolutely amazing in this clip. 俺もそれ勘違いしてたんやけど、そのシーン含めて、アニメとして我々から見た時には10分前の姿が幻影みたいに見えてるけど、ベルクーリから見るとそんなものはなくて、10分前の位置を記憶を頼りに感覚で予想して切ってるだけ。ベクタとの戦闘中の「見つけたぜ」の時もモヤみたいな幻影は視聴者に見えてるだけで、見つけたのは、その下の地面にある自らの血痕だけ。それを目印に10分前の位置を正確に思い出して切っただけという。 結論:ベルクーリさんカッコよすぎ。

The sword is linked to the time of the server's clock. He can attack the future by storing an attack power at a specific location which is released at a specific server time in the future, which vecta blocked/grabbed in the beginning of the fight. The server also records the location of player movements for the previous 10 minutes (600 seconds), and the sword can attack someone based on their location exactly 601 seconds ago which is why you see him counting when he's looking for vecta's past (the counting was cut from this video).
