These are not Apologies 1. Quick apology - focus the other person to be silent and unheard (controlling) 2. Conditional apology - when you apologize with the word (If). If should not be in the clause..You can’t apologize only having a monologue. 3. Houdini apology - Someone who knows how to blame shift onto the other person. They escape the conversation blaming you like you did something wrong. 4. Manipulative apology- When you apologize with the word (BUT). You are still responsible for you own behavior 5. I am justified apology - When you apologize and you use the word (JUST). You want them to see your perspective and be understood. 6. Two Step apology- It’s when you dancing around the apology but never really say the words “ I am Sorry “ you have to acknowledge what you did with change behavior. 7. Tug of war apology - Is when you say I will say I’m sorry if you will say you are sorry. When they withhold apologies. Few behaviors 1. Accepting apologies too quickly 2. Not demanding changed behavior. (Boundaries are required) 3. Misusing your empathy 4. Being unforgiving and unreasonable with your demands. Real apology 1. Real apologies give permission for the other person to feel. 2. An Apology must be connected to cursorily and changed behavior.

I’m so thankful that the Lord bought this teaching my way. Not only did this make me evaluate how I give apologies but also it helped me to understand why I felt stuck when certain people apologize to me. What he called a conditional apology, I called a blanket apology. A person trying to cover all of the bases, but yet there was no change. God truly use this word to set me free. I felt stuck for years thinking I was walking in unforgiveness towards people, but really what it was I felt stuck because of the lack of change behind a person’s apology towards me.
