.32 is an underrated round, and this is the best gun that shoots it. I wish Beretta USA would have gone with rerelease of this rather than releasing tricked out Memecats and the strange 80X that tries to turn the Cheetah series into a tactical abomination. It's a treat to see this video because the Beretta 84 has appeared in dozens of movies and TV shows, but the Beretta 81 has pretty much only appeared in Scarface. What an appearance, though. Somehow it fits Tony Montana perfectly: Unexpectedly refined and intelligent, but with 12 rounds in the magazine, still extremely capable and deadly.

A large batch of Italian police surplus 81s came into the US a few years ago. I picked up one in excellent condition for 199.00. I had always wanted one because of Scarface. The gun shoots like butter. Very refined. No recoil to speak of and with the DA-SA trigger you can mag dump 12 shots into a few inches from typical self defense distances. The only challenge is that holster choices are somewhat limited, you need to search. I carry it on occasion and feel well armed with it. Also, ammo isn’t as abundant as 9mm or 380. Look at ammo testing…FMJ appears to be better for penetration. Fiocchi 71 grain tested 15-18 inches. Thanks for the post.
@filippocorti6760Ай бұрын
Consider Sellier & Bellot ammo as well.
@josephpepper3087Ай бұрын
@@filippocorti6760I own several of these, reload, and chronograph ammo. Fiocchi averages about 950 fps from these guns. S&B 950-1000 fps depending on the batch. Drop in an Allegheny Arms extended threaded barrel and gain another 50-100 fps. Serious! Then the gun starts to smack a little like a .380. No big deal. Keep your recoil springs fresh! 1500 rounds is a good interval, 2500 rds at most with weaker brands of ammo. Change even more often with a .380 Cheetah.

My first introduction to the Cheetah series was actually from the survival horror videogame Parasite Eve. The main character Aya Brea, a NYC Detective carries a M84F at the start of the game. It's also worth noting that at the start of the game she is off duty. In the sequel game she upgrades to a M93R realizing she would need more firepower when dealing with the monsters she encounters.

@josephpepper3087Ай бұрын
Incorrect. The no-suffix models have no passive firing pin disconnector or decocker. Just a manual safety. The B and BB add the firing pin disconnector. The F added the decocker, then the FS also included the slide catch in case the slide breaks while firing it won't hit the shooter in the face. I've NEVER heard of this happening. It did happen on an early batch of M9 9mm's that may have had a bad heat treatment.

Im an offbeat reloader and have a fascination with the 380 pistols of the world. Went thru a divorce and of course lost everything, had to pay off attorneys, you know! I found all the 380 pistols were very easy to load for and were smooth shooters once you lucked into a custom load that fed and ejected and flew straight, you just made those by the thousands when my reloading machine got some attention. Cast lead bullets made my PPK, Cheeta, Makarov, CZ 83, etc digest thousands of rounds, and with my brass catcher trapping all the ejected brass my reloading machine turned them into ammunition in just one evening. The 380 wont let you down in a fight, has enough power behind it to do the job, is efficient and easy to put rounds on target, it truly is the best concealed carry round out there today. Now maybe I should give that .32acp a try, anyone have any experience loading this mini round?

I have no experience of reloading, but I have a feeling that it is an itch that will need scratching soon....
@josephpepper3087Ай бұрын
Yes I reload for my .32 Berettas. The main key is to know that .32 acp & 7.65x17 are slightly different! 7.65 (Fiocchi, S&B use thicker cases and narrower bullets (.308, .309"/.310"). .32 (US brands) use thinner brass & wider bullets (.311, .312, .313) Mismatched bullets & cases will cause problems! Otherwise it's no big deal. I load 78 gr coated lead bullets lightly for suppressor use. These guns cycle with light loads. 78 gr @740 fps and no problems on fresh recoil sping. Consider an Allegheny Arms extended threaded barrel. They are tight (.308 bore) and add velocity. Change recoil spring 500-1000 rds for .380. Maybe 1500 for light loads. You can go longer firing .32.

@hollywoodgunsАй бұрын
There are many ways to clean up a gun, but the one that works best for me for a blued finish is: When I first buy it, I clean it up with CLP and give it a good scrubbing. Then, I wipe on a small amount of FLITZ metal polish and it removes decades of patina and unseen rust without taking off the blueing. That brings the gun back to a great sparkle. Then as I shoot the guns, I clean them as normal, coat with a bit of gun oil or CLP and then buff with a cotton rag. This keeps them in this really great condition. You don't want to polish blued guns very often with Flitz, or leave it on the metal for very long (just 30-60 secs is fine) because it can take the blueing off. However once every few decades is fine!!

@chillios2222Ай бұрын
these are great , youhave a decent collection, i have the single stack beretta 380, used of course, very comfortable handgun to fire ( these did not hold as many rounds ),theres a few versions of the 92 where they shortened the barrel and or the frame , still very nice versions, did they use the chainsaw because it was quieter the suppressed machinegun ?, that part seemed awkward but they did portraythe gruesome cartels
@FoxtrotFleetАй бұрын
The use of the chainsaw was to terrify Tony into giving them the location of the money. How is that hard to understand? A quick death is preferable to being cut up, so because the guns had no effect on Tony's disposition, they turned to brutality to try to get the money out of him.

Hi Mate love the videos, if you have a copy of The Devils Own have a look and see if Brad Pitt carres the BDA. you'll be able to tell me the difference for sure but I thinks its the only screen time I've seen that pistol have. Keep up the great content
@hollywoodgunsАй бұрын
Thanks Dave. Yes you are correct - I have learned from other commenters that it is in the Devils own. I might be able to do a full episode on it after all!

Now you GOTTA do the "supporting actor and never the star" of Scarface, Miami Vice, the A-Team and Desperado (as well as Rambo II, Magnum P.I., V TFB, Pulp Fiction and on and on); the Ingram MAC 10/11. (Well ALMOST "never the star"; I forgot McQ.)

MAC 10 coming soon - I promise.

I have gotten to go though a lot of imports dumped from Italian police stock. When it comes to Italian pistols, it is a tour of the Beretta catalog, ha. I am sure a lot of that is national pride. Beretta is a VERY Italian company and has been a staple of Italy for...well they are the oldest continuous gun company for a reason. As for the flinching, That does seem to make sense as something to note, but if a character is inexperienced within the story, it would make sense that they would handle the firearm in an inexperienced manor, so that has to be considered as well.
@hollywoodgunsАй бұрын
Very true on your flinching comment. I'll consider the characters "experience" in future videos. Tony and Manny are both ex-Cuban military in Scarface so they ought to be good. Riggs in Lethal Weapon is supposed to be ex-special forces so his performance at the gun range smiley face scene isnt good....
@QueensStandUpАй бұрын
I like the 92FS. A stainless 92 was the first handgun I ever fired and it was real nice. Don’t know much about the 81 but it looks functionally similar.

@filippocorti6760Ай бұрын
I don't know if the 2nd shot on Mel in Scarface was realistic. I don't think he would become unconscious that quickly. Life usually drains from a person when shot. I'd guess this is especially so with a .32 if it leads to death.

Would love to see a video of the shotgun in Terminator 2 since i am looking for a shotgun and they make a cimarron reproduction for $600. Found a real Winchester 1887 for the same price at a gun show a few weeks ago and regret not buying it. It did have wear and the tube under the barrel did have a concerning looking loose plate i guess it is that i didn’t like but i am sure it could have been fixed and the gun would have worked anyways
@hollywoodgunsАй бұрын
I too am looking for a reasonably priced 1887. I will probably get a 1901 with the strengthened action though as it can shoot modern cartridges and not just black powder ones.
